Cool European Animals

We are talking so much about Northamerica, that the other most obvious option feels strongly overlooked.
One of the main reasons for that is that most people have something like a deer, a lynx, an ibex and either the european badger or the redfox in mind for the pack.
While i Do agree, that that would be a great pack, i would argue that europe had alot more to offer and thought it could be a cool idear to start a thread where everyone shares his or her favourite european animal for the game or something they find cool in general.

In my case the most wanted animal is the fallow deer.
One of the most commonly held deer in zoos, they have spread through the world and are common both in normal habitats, wallthroughs and petting zoos alike.
The primary reason i chose the fallow deer over the more imposing and iconic reddeer is their flexabilty and sheer abundance in zoos.
Its not like reddeer are that uncommon, its more about the fallow deer being everywhere, as their smaller statue and calmer demenor is preferable for both zoos and visitors alike.
Their more docile behaviour alows them to interact with visitors and makes for a more exciting inclusion.
Also they are just pretty with their white spots, but still look very distinct from other deers, even chitals.
The males are aided by their showel like antlers, also quite diffrent from reddeer and chitals.
One day i wish for all of them in the game, but if i had to choose one, handsdown the fallow.

Oh yes, I absolutely think we should get a European DLC. It may be that there are just higher profile or recognizable iconic animals from North American than Europe, but Europe definitely has some interesting animals. While I'm about 99% certain we'll get a NA release, I'm not quite as such about a European release, maybe about 80-90% certain, so I certainly hope so.

The fallow deer is definitely an selection that would make many people happy. I think if we do get a European pack the Alpine Ibex (or another European Ibex) and either the Iberian/Eurasian Lynx are near certainties. If they're not used in North America pack, the Moose and Wolverine are also good choices (though I suspect the Moose will be in a NA pack, and I can't see them releasing both the Moose and Fallow Deer in the same pack.)

What I'd really like to see the European Badger, even though I rank the Alpine Ibex higher due to their high profile past inclusion in zoo games, I do actually like the Badger more and they would be my "favorite" of the pack.

Europe would also be a opportunity to get any arctic favorite we can’t get in the America pack. Like a musk ox or arctic fox

I'd love the fallow deer. One of my local zoos used to have a walkthrough habitat (they only stopped because they also have an extensive barnyard where you can feed some of the animals, and people were feeding the deer on their way around the park causing some weight and aggression issues), and I'd love to replicate it.

The Alpine ibex is a classic animal I'd like to see, too, and obviously the lynx (Iberian preferred, but at this point I'd be happy with the Eurasian).

I'm also dying to see the scheltopusik in the game as an exhibit animal, otherwise known as the European legless lizard (or Pallas' glass lizard). In New Zealand, we aren't allowed to keep snakes, even in zoos, so the scheltopusik is as close as we can get and features in a few collections here.

My most wanted animal is the lynx, preferably the Iberian lynx (for conservation, for adding a Mediterranean animal and for me being Spanish haha)

Regarding the deer family, I think reindeer, moose, red deer and fallow deer are all very different to each other and the 4 deserve to be in the game (not in the same pack of course).

Any of the European goats would be great too, be it the Alpine or Iberian ibex or the mouflon or the chamois.

As for other animals, the cute European badger would look nice. The alpine marmot is growing on me now that we can have small digging animals.

As for aquatic animals, I would like to have either the beaver or the otter.

- European Bison: Best example of conservation effort in europe. Species was extinct in the wild by 1927 and only fewer than 50 individuals remained in the captivity. WW1 and it effects nearly destroyed entire population. From just 12 surviving animals (11 from Białowieża and one from the Caucuses) conservationists meticulously bred the species across five zoos. Currently wisent is repopulated across eastern Europe. Very impressive animal which is on the top of european megafauna.

I’d say the single, most iconic European animal for me is the Alpine ibex.

Of course I’d like to see as many European species as possible with a personal preference for Nordic species. But some of those could come in a North America pack and many could be argued about (ie Iberian v Eurasian lynx).

The ibex seems to me to be the single standout iconic species which a European pack absolutely must include. And it’s a cool animal too.

It’s also versatile, in the European context at least, being common in both wildpark style wildlife parks as well as urban zoos.

I really like the European bison and the reintroduction process is amazing. However, I never include this animal in my proposals because it is too similar to the American bison and if we only get 4 or even 7 animals, I would prefer having animals that don't look so similar.

If we are talking about an african mountain goat, the barbary sheep would be a way better pick imo.
The alpine ibex is by far the more common species in zoos, as well as having much more flexibility like markun mentioned.

Hopefully there will be a DLC dedicated to European wildlife at some point.

For me the must have species are the Red Deer and the Alpine Ibex, other than that i'm open to any other European animal (Lynx, Chamois, Fallow Deer, Red Fox, Wild Boar, European Badger, European Beaver, European Bison and the Moose, if they will not be in the North American pack, even if i highly doubt that), i kinda want to see a Capercaille too and like always the more animals are included the better will be.
