Cool Forum Game: My Ice Cube is Better Than Yours

Entirely too much attention is given to earth-likes, water worlds, black holes, and neutron stars. This is an outrage.

Enter the magnificent ice world: the unsung heroes of procedural content filler. How many of these majestic hunks of ice have you passed by?

To give these seemingly forgotten wonders of astronomy the credit they deserve, this thread will give you the chance to display a space diamond (or many of them) that has caught your eye.

Rules:

1: Display a picture of an ice world that has an especially glorious trait. This will be hard to do, as there are so many marvelous examples.

2: You must have explored the ice world to prove your reverence.

3: (Optional) Have an exaggerated attitude/opinion when presenting your space diamond.

Here is my brilliant first prime example:

As you can see, this is a sublime beast of ice. At 22x earth's mass, you can't get much bigger than this. And has rings.

"Ha, that's scrawny compared to the marvels I've seen!", you say? Oh yeah? Prove it.

This one:

It's been some time since then, and I don't have a screenshot of the system map at hand (will try to remember to see to it tonight), but the system name is shown so it can be found again. This planet is actually my favourite of all the planets I have seen so far. :)

You set the starting bar pretty high, but I believe I have a contender.

I had to search through my log entries to find this one:

I thought at first glance that this was a small gas giant until I zoomed in on it and saw that it was in fact an ice planet.

The view from the surface of this little gem would be magnificent with a small telescope as you look through the icy rings to view one of the many moons orbiting it.

Some useless information about icy planets based on my records (which include 243 Icy Planets so far)
34.6% of Icy Planets are tidally locked
Water Geysers are the most common form of volcanism (when there is any)
Surface temperature is generally under 100K, which makes sense for a planet of ice, but I have had a single Icy Planets with surface temperature of 1418K and a handful about 500K, these outliers always have surface pressures in the tens or hundreds of thousands.
I'll make some histograms and scatter plots and pie charts and what not tonight but I have to go back to work ATM.

Nah, that's not all it's cracked up to be!
.
I'll get me hat.

Love this idea. Ice worlds are so underrated. Quite possibility the loveliest of all the orbs hanging in the pitch black sky, IMO. Also they are kind of like tofu, since they take on the flavor of whatever hue their parent star is serving up.

At last...an outlet for my obsession for photographing pretty much all of the planets in a system. There are a lot of Icy and Rocky/Icy planets out there.

I feel almost compelled to record their existence. After all, out here in the middle of nowhere who will pass by their way again?

Perhaps I will be the only player who ever sees them in the whole future history of this game? What a responsibility. Hmm, that got weird real quick.

I was out exploring today and found this little beauty. Except it's not so little, it's pretty big as you can see, about 22,5 earth masses and it's even got a cute ring around it.

Info sheet. With 7 moons keeping it company it's not a lonely space ice cube like so many others are what with barely any commanders bothering to pay them a visit and say hi.

Here is a closer look at it from my Asp's right window. Look at those beautiful curvy streaks of brown and cracks revealing it's cavernous insides.

Next up I have this bright little lass. Yes, it's a her. Don't look at me like that, space does things to a man when he's been alone in it for 2 months. Anyway, I wanted to include her because of the way she reflects her sun's light, just look how shiny she is! So pretty!

I feel like I should be able to jump out onto those rings and build a snowman. A giant snowman, but still a snowman.

Do you want to build a snowman.png

Just got back from a trip today and found this beauty. It may not be large but it has two separate, colorful, pristine, metal-rich rings. I can only imagine seeing the water geysers on the surface spraying into the atmosphere like fountains.

I think I win the biggest snowball by a very large margin.

That's right 67.8 earth masses, this is in Class 1 Gas Giant territory.
