Just had to share what happened to me yesterday...
...had about 500k worth of bounties to collect from Feds, Empire and Alliance. (For me, this is a pretty decent haul...!)
Was on my way to a Fed station to collect my first set of bounties, when I get interdicted. By an Imperial Clipper.
'No big deal' I thought - I've taken on plenty of these before.
So I take it on. All going to plan. But as I have it down to about 10 percent hull - DOH - I ram into it.
Hull down to 3%
Canopy gone.
I have 5 mins of life support left!!
...holy *#$%!
I go to SC ASAP and get to the station I was heading to with plenty of time.
*phew*
I land and hit the Repair button...
...oh wait! No. Repair. Option. Available!!
...holy *#$%!
I try and find an auto-repair module in outfitting... No luck
...Life support is stuck at 5 mins... I know as soon as I take off, it will start counting down again...
What do I do...?
I frantically look around the galaxy map. I need:
* A close system that won't take long to jump to
* One with loads of docks / ports - so that I have the best chance of finding one close.
Luckily, one of the neighbouring systems has 8 docks / ports...
...I check them all, they all support repairs.
...perfect...
...so - I take off and jump.
When I arrive, I check the distance to the nearest dock / port...
...over 6,000Ls!!
...holy *#$%!
OK - so I turn and burn. It's gonna be tight, but I still think I've got a chance.
The seconds tick by, and it seems like the game somehow engineered this situation on purpose.
The amount of life support time I had left seemed to perfectly match the time I needed to get to the station - for perfect dramatic tension...
But then - as I'm a minute or so away...
...INTERDICTION.
...holy *#$%!
I tried my best to avoid it, but with half my HUD gone due to a cracked screen, it wasn't easy.
...and even if I had made it, I think even escaping it would have still wasted too much time.
So - in the end I didn't make it
As well as my 500k in bounties, I also had a 180k rebuy cost. All in all nearly 700k gone
But it's these kinds of sequence of events that MAKE this game for me.
I was laughing and crying throughout!
After 5 or so minutes feeling a little bummed out, I was right back in there making back the money I lost.
I accept what people are getting at when they say this game needs more to fill the game out - make the universe feel 'more alive'.
Do I hope the devs end up doing more on that front? Sure. (And I have full confidence they will - eventually).
But is this game more than enough for me in it's current state?

I lost 700k in 5 mins.
And I'm 'loving it'
