As we all know, Frontier has orbital map which displays positions and orbits of major bodies and large artificial structures such ase stations, as well as positions of smaller objects like individual vessels.
I'm pretty sure that everyone noticed the buttons for accelerating/reversing the time flow which allows us to see the position of the bodies in the system in arbitrarily selected moment.
Now, up to this moment I haven't realized that the physics engine stays awake and alert even in this simulation and displays movement of small objects like ships as it would look if they were inert, moving at their current speed and influenced by gravity (previously I thought it simply translated them along straight paths, unlike what happens in actual flight).
In short, the system map allows us to predict the movement of our ship and, effectively, put our craft in (relatively) stable orbits around chosen bodies with little effort and no number grinding on our part. Now you too can put your Asp in geostationary orbit!
