Coop split reward?

In coop if we do a kill quest, the killer gets the reward and the other gets nothing. I read that it is possible to split the reward (lets says 2000cr) if the killer buys 1000cr of something then dumps it in space for the other to take and sell. What I don't understand is how to not lose money in that operation since goods are not worth the same if you buy/sell them?

Buy 2000cr worth of stuff, give your friend half and both take it to sell at the same station.
Only problem is, his stuff will be considered stolen so he could end up getting fined so helping you might end up costing him 2000cr.

Or why dont you just take turns, you help him do a mission then he helps you.

That might not be the case anymore ste. I remember MB saying that friends are now able to exchange cargo without it showing up as stolen a good few weeks ago.

Never tried or heard that, you could be right.
