Discussion Coriolis.io and Orbis.zone Transfer

Hello there, CMDRs!

The Coriolis.io project (run by EDCD) has been in the process of changing maintainers over the last few weeks. As part of this, the server infrastructure and domain routing for Coriolis are being transferred. We wanted to let you know about this change, what it means in the immediate future, and what it means going forward for Coriolis.

The Immediate Future
As we speak, the orbis.zone and coriolis.io domains are being transferred from CMDR @Fett_Li to myself (CMDR Rixxan). This means that over the next few days, existing shortlinks (such as s.orbis.zone links) or the whole of Coriolis itself may appear offline at times. This is needed as we retire the old infrastructure, transfer the data, and set up the new infrastructure.

We apologize for the inconvenience as we implement this move.

So, more pressing, what does this mean going forward?
@CMDR HollowPointPC and CMDR Rixxan have taken over the day-to-day maintenance and support for Coriolis.io from CMDR Fett_Li. We thank him for his dedication to this project! The project will still remain under the Elite: Dangerous Community Developers umbrella, and will always welcome user feedback, input, bug reports, and code submissions.

As part of this transfer, we'll also be deploying a few fixes and content additions to Coriolis itself, and will continue to do our best to maintain this valuable resource for the Elite community.

As always, if there are questions and concerns, please let us know!

There were some issues earlier with moving the URL shortener to the new hosting and some of you may well have experienced failed attempts to shorten the URL, even a full-on Coriolis error at times, but it should now be all back up and running, with old URLs respected and new ones generated. Coriolis itself hasn't moved to the new hosting yet, but it will do soon ™️. We will try to keep the downtime to a minimum wherever possible. The good news is, there are new features coming! Everything that works on https://beta.coriolis.io, should start working on the main https://coriolis.io site soon ™️ after the migration to the new hosting. Features which work on beta and are not currently in the live site include:

  • Improved Module Search
  • Updated Module Pricing (more accurate than both EDSY and Inara currently has)
  • EDOMH (Elite Dangerous Odyssey Material Helper) integration has been completed and tested with the EDOMH Developer
  • Improved Importing (It should no longer fail to import a ship just because a module isn't in Coriolis)
  • Considerable number of Modules added (Including Enhanced AX Weaponry)

Planned improvements include, but not restricted to:

  • Improved UI Experience (More responsive, less scrollbars, better module selection UI, etc.)
  • More bug fixes, addressing items in the 'issues' list on Github
  • Auto Deploys to both beta and live sites (faster deployment of fixes and new features)
  • Fix Exporting to Inara (Currently it exports standard modules when searching for stations which sell the build... this is pointless)

From an old player many thanks to all involved for this magnificent third party tool which I have used for many many years to mess around building silly and not so silly builds for my enjoyment . Your hard work has been instrumental iny enjoyment of the game .
Keep up the good work past and present and future
