Correct me please! I thought we could map our elite controllers.

Can we map our elite controllers? I am having trouble switching to all of the weapons I am using in battle. Is there a way to map on elite xbox controllers? (XBOX)

You can only map paddles to existing buttons on the top; the paddles aren't extra buttons.
The next update will bring fully mappable controls (although the paddles will still only be able to mirror existing buttons)

Don't forget about the XBOX accessories app to map your elite controller, but like it was said earlier, the paddles can be mapped to A, B, X, Y, RT, LT, RB, LB, L3, R3 etc. They are not "additional buttons".

Now one thing i'd love to change is having boost tied with your landing gear >_>

...yeah, I've tried to drop landing gear at the last minute a few times, and found myself zooming off into the control towers or ending up bouncing around at the far end of the station.

Ideally, they'd support the Elite pad further by allowing completely new functions for the paddles. Not sure how they'd manage it, though. FA certainly needs a toggle, and frankly I'd rather see the landing gear being in the Functions tab. Whilst I do use headlights they really don't need to be a shift input via a face button [or paddle].

I'm curious when the update (expansion) drops is it going to clear out our controls and have us remind all the keys. I hope not, I'm gonna take a picture of my controller layout tonight now that I'm thinking about it.

They wouldn't do that, I don't think. The update shouldn't clear controls, just let us customize them more.

The last update cleared out our controls. I found out the hard way they were reset when I launched out of a station.
Are you sure that was the last update? I remember remapping my controls after coming out of GPP but I don't remember doing it twice

It was one of them, but I'm pretty sure I got hit when we went to 1.5 too

Might have been a bug, because I haven't had to remap my controls since, like Bongo, the Full Release.

If it happens again, maybe you should fill out a Bug Report.

Clearing of the controls definitely shouldn't happen after an update - if anyone is finding this happening to them, please file a bug report to help us track down this issue.

I think, but can't remember exactly that I had to reset my controls after 1.5 (could have been full release). I filed a bug report, but after looking in the bug section I couldn't find it! Anyway, I know it shouldn't happen, but it has happened at least once, so I'm going to make sure my settings are recorded in case it happens again.

Sure, a few people had this in the past, but we believe the problem to be fixed so are interested to know if anyone gets it with any of the more recent 1.5.xx updates.
Thanks.

Always back up your controller settings in the binds file (appdata\local\frontier developments\elite dangerous\options).

When you first create a custom set you like, go into this folder and create a copy of custom binding with a new name (I call it Throttle+joy.1.8.binds for example). And copy it to another private folder out of this tree for safe keeping.

Then go back into ED and select this new file - it will show up in the list.

Then you have your good file, and Custom is available again for experimentation.

If you ever get a controller disconnect, or some reason why the file is screwed up, just copy it back over from your private store.

This is the xbox forum......thanks for the suggestion though.
