Corrosion resistant cargo racks

The cited cargo racks are the only physical example I can think of (and they were later made available through Palin, too), although there was also a 30% ship discount one.

Thanks Siranui, not fussed about the discounts/decals etc but I thought I could still get 8t corrosion resistant.

Not happy that I can't although I wonder if they were withdrawn to make UA bombing harder.

But in order to get Palin, you need to first unlock Elvira, level her up to Grade 3-4 in order to unlock Marco Qwent, then rank HIM up to Grade 3-4 in order to even unlock Palin in the first place, correct? If so, that's a ton of work. I have no desire to rank either of these engineers up. It's a shame, because I'd really like to have these Cargo Racks so I can transport hazardous materials safely.

Yes, but that wasn't the question.

You could of course consider using an AFMU.

I've literally just finished doing this and it can be a chore, Elvira not so much but definitely Qwent.
With a bit of planning you can do Elvira in a single visit (you should already have the invite?), it's not so bad.

Ranking with Sirius for the permit and then mission running to get the terminals was a pain. If you already have the permit then just mission run for a favourite faction to get the terminals.
I'm hoping they change this with the no commodities update.

Yeah, nah sod that.
Is there some alt-route? Like if I travel half a dozen kylies and turn up with a dozen roses and some Lavian Brandy? I hear it's a good leg opener "if it doesn't work use a crowbar"

Palin also has level 5 dirty drives, which in itself makes him worth unlocking in my opinion.

gottagofasterFasterFASTER!

Is this a thing? I didn't take part because there was no way to do so without shooting barnacles/UA (I forget which)

Yes it is a thing. I was pretty upset too, because the CG rewards were not announced until 2 or 3 days before it ended. I would do CGs for decals or items, not for credits, unless the credits are ridiculously high. Any time a CG gives an item or decal as rewards FD needs to be announce it from the start.

Unique items? Is this genuinely a thing? I've never heard of an item available through a CG that couldn't be obtained another way.

Everyone who delivered anything a week or so ago, during the Christmas Gifts CG, will be getting a Chrome Eagle skin. They have never been available anywhere. They're probably going to be delivered whenever the current beta goes live? Anyone who participated at all, also got about 6 or 7 million credits (top 100%). So yeah, last CG, chrome Eagle paint.

Cheers Daitya, I don't mind skins/decals etc being given out, as long as it's advertised, they're pretty but don't impact gameplay.
It's ships/modules I take exception to being tied to CG participation if they aren't offered again or in another way.

FD doesnt believe in "advertising" lol Hopefully they will for future CGs. I am guessing that you didnt hear about class 4 weapons being offered only as CG rewards? That went well.....

Good lord... can anyone answer the original question?

Teehee. We never get bored of moaning on these forums.

To answer the question...

*drum roll*

Yes!

The UA's are automatically assigned to the corrosion resistant racks. I am currently carrying two UA's, with a 2t capacity CR rack. There is zero damage to my ship.

I hope this helps. Have a nice day. :)

I'm planning to feed a few UAs to the Thargoids (they apparently take the UAs during the hyperdiction).

I've heard Palin stocks the corrosion resistant cargo racks, but I don't have an invite and I thought Palin was one of the hardest engineers to get and to level up.

A little off topic, but you mentioned it in your post. Getting Palin isn't too hard. The hardest part is going the grind to get the Sirius permit. But while you are doing that, you can be collecting the modular terminals at the same time. Took me about 2.5 days start to getting level 5 upgrades from Palin. In a nutshell:

- Get Sirius permit (by doing missions for Sirius at a Sirius controlled station)
- Find Marco Qwent mission pass reward at a station in Sirius once you have permit
- Give Marco Qwent 25 Modular Terminals (can get as rewards for doing missions almost anywhere, you probably tossed away tons of these already).
- Level up Marco Qwent to around 3.5+. He will give you invite to Palin.
- Give Palin 25 unknown fragments (can be found on planet surfaces where Thargoid wreckage is, or by blowing up UA's).

I am in Maia now, just getting the last of the materials for a level 5 thruster upgrade from Palin. I forgot to look to see if he had the cargo racks.

Ineresting thread necro there Mr KaosInator.

Welcome to the forum.
The beer's in the fridge and the nuts are all over the board.

This thread is from January.
Since then I got my Thargoid interdiction. Got really good at carrying UAs (24 in an Asp no anti toxic cargo hold).
Investigated a Secret Alliance Outpost in the California Nebula, made a Billion credits, helped flip four systems, got Elvira and Sirius, picked up 15 Modular Terminals from a CMDR in open - a senior from the group CONTRAIL - got Qwent found that Sirius Corp was in trouble, helped Sirius Inc fight that, got Palin, spent the Billion on my fleet, put G5 dirties and FSDs on the lot, went to Dav's Hope and the wrecked Fed ships, made one Elite rank and appeared in someone else's videos.

And I am sorry to say, I have bored the forums with all of this blow by blow, day by day, chapter and verse.

You are correct in all your details - I just wonder what you googled that brought you here.
Also in - rereading my tripe, I note I didn't answer the "What unique items?" question.
- CGs have been used to create Mega Ships, new rares, new bases, bring ships into the game, etc. I guess "unique" was a stretch, but I hope you get what I mean. My point was that failing to reach top tier has effects that you might not see for a while. For example the toxic cargo carrier didn't reach top tier and now we struggle with 2T holds. There was something similar with the Alliance base. It only got tier 3 so there's a ship yard but it's garbage. Only good for transfers.

@why necro this thread : First hit for googling "corrosion resisyant cargo rack" (sic). Interesting read, frustrating to hear there was a skin and decal to get that I've missed.

Guess the real question is: Do they steal cargo?

And if so will Gluttony accept them in The Code.
.
Thought he is not in The Code any more as he finally found out that he was the only one there actually stealing cargo instead of just randomly shooting players?
.

He wasn't the only one, but he did raise the tone.

These days we have SDC running "for the good of the game" campaigns, and even The Mad Bomber has a fan club.
What is become of us?

So you buy a 8t corrosion resistant cargo rack... To go along side your 8t standard one.
You pick up a UA or UP, what does the game do? Automatically assumes it's in the resistant one? And if you pickup up 7 more? And then if you pick up a 9th one?
Does it basically just assume UAs/UPs go in the corrosive resistant slots? And it's not until you've filled those up and started using normal cargo space that it then causes damage to your ship?

(1) The corrosion-resistant cargo rack maximum size limit is 2T.
(2) Yes, you pick up an unknown object and it is stored, preferably and automatically in the corrosion-resistant cargo rack.
I am guessing but, if you gather more than 2T of unknown materials the overflow probably goes into the regular cargo racks and if you gather that many unknown materials your ship will probably, eventually just stop working completely. o7

So for those of us, that don't have the time, or know how to go through the grind of acquiring the corrosive resistant racks; how long do we have to play with if we load them up into normal cargo racks?

I ask as I have been visiting the wreak sites and i am in the process of looking for UAs, in the local USSs to take back and open the doors.

Not long, I loaded up on Thargoid items (abt 10t with 4t crcr so 6t unprotected) around an active surface site and my cargo bay was at 19% by the time I had made it to the closest station.
