Horizons Corvette build...it kind of bore's me.........what should I look at changing?

So, after days of grinding for a cutter and days of grinding for a corvette.....I now have them both. Now I want to do something with them. The vette is all engineered out. I get 18 LY jump and boots to 358 with DD5. All of the weapons at level 5 as are the core and optional that make sense. My shield strength is 2850. I am not sure I like the MC's on the hardpoints. They do their job but......they seem kind of meh....

1. buy an eagle. flying a corvette is no challenge pve, so if you are bored, downsize.

2. fit your corvette as a miner, and your cutter as a trader. the corvette is the very best miner ingame, the cutter the very best trader.

3. see 1.

(alternatively fit 2 huge PA and 2 medium PA, and take on the challenge hitting with them!)

uhm, Elprez, what do you want it to be for you?
A Miner? Good one, Goemon is right. A Combat Zone Slaughterer, no prob, but you should adjust your outfitting a bit. A HazRez Executioner? Seems fine, your fitt will work, but not optimal. A Challenge? Oh.... wrong ship. ;-)

For a challenge :-
Fly in has res with 32 gold in cargo and you can only use the fighter and an AI crew flys the corvette.

I do the cargo thing but have not tried the fighter only bit :) something for me to try I guess.

Challenge.. Cutter in a High-Res against a wing of 3.. FDS, FAS and FGS... I was blessed in that security helped me out, but it showed me the cutter is a crap combat ship... Sold it immediately and refitted my conda platform... Now I'm smiling :)

You are joking right ? In my Cutter I'd expect to take out all 3 and not lose a ring of shield. You MUST be joking. I'm not bragging - I'm crap at PVE - or at least I thought I was .....

Take your Corvette to a system in war, and do a load of massacre missions. They're not particularly challenging in an engineered Corvette, but eventually, the CZ will go to Ceasefire. Now the fun can start. Presumably, you'll have some incomplete massacre missions, so choose a mission target and shoot it. That breaks the ceasefire between you and the mission targets. You can now see how long you can stay there and how many kills you can get before you have to leave. 13 kills is my record, but that's without my SCBs set up properly.

I quickly grew to find gimballed multis interminably boring, so I dropped them from my Cutter and started experimenting with whatever weapons seemed fun. I eventually settled on fixed beams, rails, cannons, and seekers. Couldn't be happier with her now, combat is fun again. You can make almost any weapons work in PvE, pretend the stats don't exist and think about what using them involves.

If I were you, I'd also swap out an HRP for an MRP and consider whether the docking computer is worth the module slot.

No offence, but there was something seriously wrong with your Cutter's build.

I am running this with 7c shields. all beams are eff, 4a MC incindiary, 3C mc chem. nice less ammo draw and less restocking.

Probably :) I had just got it and put Basic A modules on it. I found it really difficult to turn and maneuver. So much so my wrist got sore trying to work it. And yes, I was using FA on/off...

Also it drifts something terrible. (In fairness the conda will also drift, but is way more managable)

I think the Cutter (if used for combat role) would be more helpful as a stand-off hull ripper.

All my opinion :)

Oh that's good +1, you do have a good engineered Vette do you?
I'm counting only 9 (HiCZ), but leave after SCBs gone just before shields drop so I got no armor lost.

I am sure you are by no means unskilled my friend, but 13? It would appear that people have been too comfortable with all MC loadouts too long ;)

Don't think a full MC loadout can do that amount of damage that is necessary to kill so many targets is so less time when 20 npc ganging up against you.

As a Corvette pilot i can say, if you want fun and a challenge, park the vette and get something smaller.

My fun ship is an FGS loaded to the gills with rapid fire frag cannons, it's great fun for PvP or PvE.

Oh come on, that's being dramatic.

My iCutter has some beams on (wait, a loadout that ISN'T full MCs?!) and doesn't actually need to go back to restock.

Not even a "restocks rarely"...with bi-weave shield I can effectively stay indefinitely. Multiple NPCs don't really gang up on you often and if they do you can lose them by boosting through a group of allies. That is if I don't have SCBs and choose to tank them all anyway.

CZs really, really need to kick it up a notch.
