Ane one else flying Corvettes find that their engines are not glowing in super cruise?

Your thrusters aren't functioning in SC, it's your FSD which does the job 
Engines appear to be off on all ships while in supercruise. I liked it more when they were glowing. At some point FD decided to turn them off. I understand that you don't use thrusters in supercruise and it is your FSD that does the job, but why then do you crash out of supercruise everytime you try to disable the thrusters? Would have been so nice for heat management with dirty thrusters especially.

No, I think they are required to move you and the FSD space warp bubble (that moves with you) makes for the increased translation (not physical speed).
They would also be required to turn.
