CORVETTE - Military Grade or Mirror/Reactive ???? What's better

As title says. I'm about to finalise my Corvette.

What's better? The "standard" Military Grade Composite or the Reactive/Mirrored Surface Composite (and much more expensive) versions for the armor?

Does it matter? If your shield goes down in a Corvette then you're already dead.

Generally military is best. The other two have weaknesses that overshadow their strengths, and you never know whether your opponent with have lasers, canons, or missiles. Usually all three, so not much point having bonus strength against one if it leaves you weak against the other.

short answer: military.

long answer: depends on your shield resitances/values, shieldbooster mods and hrp mods, and whether you have a limited use of your corvette... i can imagine a situation where mirrored could make sense, but those are rare.

Except a Cutter

True. Doesn't mean that is a problem though.

Even the Corvette is owned by only 3% of the playerbase, AFAIK the Cutter is even less. Besides, the Cutter is not exactly renowned for its agility nor firepower, only its speed and ungodly survivability thanks to a disgusting amount of shields.

You could fit reactive armour and mod it with thermal resistance. This gives you an overall much better resistance against all kind of attacks. Thermal will remain the weakness, but many players use kinetic against Hull anyway. ....
And what was said here already: rely on your shields!
Personally I try to keep my pve corvette light and have military armour with lightweight mod fitted

Really? What are you basing that on? My vette has 3008Mj of shields and an armour strength of 2400. Never had too much trouble finishing a fight if my shield has dropped.

Not really, no.

I tend to use military since it's a) useful in a wide variety of situations and b) doesn't push your rebuy cost over 50mil+ :)

Depends on what you are doing, in pvp most likely. In pve however using light weight MGC with near max rolled heavy duty HRPs means you can stay in the fight for a very long time when you achieve max resistances.

For PVE, just don't install any armor - it's a dead weight and a huge waste of money, especially the fancy ones. Get some HRPs and then go to Selene Jean and upgrade both HRPs and your lightweight armor. Get some good shield\shield booster upgrades (at least 3 gigajoules and high thermal resist).

2400 armor? Man, that's only 400 more than my little Viper MkIV. And I don't feel that safe in my Anaconda with 5200 hull, armored modules and huge resistance bonuses. As the guy above said, you're pretty much dead if you lose shield in a serious fight. The thing is, that the less percentage you have, the longer your armor remains tough (armor toughness drops with hull percentage) and your modules become very easy to kill. And that's why you need as much hull as possible, to keep those modules protected.
