Corvette Ship Kit & Horrendous Paintjobs For Said Kits...

Hmmmm...

Fancy finishing this off, Frontier? I'd quite like one complete colour on all the ship pieces that use the kit :p not "bugged-red" :D

I made a bug report about this in the Xbox bugs forum.
It's not only the nose, a lot of parts are borked when using either the vibrant, tactical or military paint pack.
It's sloppy and poor quality controll.

And we pay real money for this.
If a paint doesn't turn out as expected that's my bad but this abysmal quality can not be forseen.
It's as if they don't even check if a paint glitches or not when releasing a ship kit, as if they just assume that it's okay.
When you ask people to pay for it, make sure the quality is good.
Like I said, it's sloppy.

And I bet we'll have to wait till 2.4 before it's fixed........

ship kits and paints feel like rushed jobs for Frontier to just "make a quick buck."
Pity they haven't figured out that quality cosmetics are a massively lucrative investment in dozens of online games.

100% this. There are so many cosmetics I would have purchased if not for the frustratingly slapdash way they are implemented, and I can't help but wonder if there are many more out there like me. Hopefully Frontier get their act together at some point when they realize just how much more money they could pull in with a bit more care and polish paid to these (frankly ludicrously expensive given how chintzy they are) premium add-ons.

I would happily fork over cash for ship modifications similar to that used in Star Trek Online. *
Different variants of ships, and you can mix and match to make your own unique taste.

Custom ship HUD's that look totally different from the current one.

Even something as mundane as an apartment on a space station which we can then populate with furniture and other things can be a big investment for Frontier ( ala ESO's new housing system ).

Even without the aforementioned, most of them the kits lack any real imaginative flair; and the quality on some is shocking; one of the kit pieces on the Viper looks appalling. I think Frontier should put a tad more effort into their kits.

Has to be said that is proper shonky. I mean surely it's just setting the part to use the correct shaders from the paintjob?

Have you tried re-applying the paintjob? There was a bug with that and paint degradation messing up the kits IIRC.

I agree that FD could use bit more imagination in their designs but I don't have to buy them if I don't like the design, color, whatsoever.
What bothers me greatly is the lack of quality, ID plates not aligning, paints glitching, emblems and paints shifting when zooming out, that sort of things.
All the things you buy in the store are vanity items, vanity as in looking good, especially vanity items should be of good quality visually.

I can't emphasize enough that it's just sloppy and lazy work, if they were for free then I wouldn't bother complaining but I/we pay money for them, I have the right to expect those items to be of good quality or them being fixed in an acceptable amount of time, months is not acceptable in my opinion.

I like ED I truly do and FD has made and are still making a fantastic game but this aspect sets me off greatly.
I hate it when people try to get away with sloppy work but ask full price for what they deliver.

Well...at least the corvette kit looks great in chrome, but yeah I do agree they need to shore up that stuff. I bought the predator skin too and can hardly use it with certain kit configs

Has nothing to do with paint degradation, my Corvette was 100% crisp, I tried switching paints but to no avail.
The Predator paints are good, they don't glitch so it's just a matter of checking if the older paints match the addition of a shipkit.
In short, quality controll.

Predator paints don't glitch on the Corvette shipkit, at least not on Xbox.

Well, thats not good at all. Its not as if E10 isn't already steep enough...

It's 22euro if you count the three paintpacks along with it.
Right now I can't use either the shipkit or the paints at the same time.
Well I can but it looks like sh..

Paintpacks cost 3,99 on Xbox btw.

Looks like a LoD issue maybe? Seems not all the ship parts downscale at the same time... you might have noticed sometimes ships 'pop' a little as you zoom the camera out.. it's like that, but happening too close to the camera, and before the rest of the ship.

Edit: also some combinations of screen resolution and FoV setting can have some effect on this and shadow quality, from what I can tell. Do you have a higher than usual FoV set?

Edit 2: What I'm trying to get at is that it might not be a 'shoddy' art job. It may well be something to do with the game's object rendering, which is another department entirely...

Well since we are complaining about cosmetics (assuming FD peeks in here) please take a look at the assorted "Squadron" paint schemes - the Anaconda and Python ones jump to mind.

They look, even brand new (100% paint), like there is some issue (half-on, peeling, or incomplete) that makes them look so poor as to be "literally unplayable!"

Fov has no effect on the glitching and I'm on Xbox so I can't select another resolution.
Lot of glitches are probably a LoD issue, some emblems pop to an entire different location on the Python for instance when you zoom out.
Same happens with paints on the Conda.
Stupid thing is the Conda paints were just fine before 2.3.

No matter what the cause is though, it's sloppy quality controll.

I am not a buyer of cosmetics items myself, but i do of course agree with the criticism over quality control here.
A question though:
Have you guys opened support tickets over these issues ?
Not that i believe FD are unaware of this, but perhaps an increased number of tickets (and possibly requests for refunds) could increase the pressure a bit.
After all, you received a defective product and what more valid case for opening a support ticket than that ?
