Ships Corvette's L gun not firing

I've tried different weapon types in the Large hardpoint whether its frag or multi cannon, and it different fire groups, mouse 1 or 2 button, doesn't seem to matter. It fires sometimes. It's worse as a MC gimbal in the main firegroup; it will just fire off a few rounds and then stop. Does anyone know what's going on?

Do they fire with no target selected? A gimbal mount in that hardpoint has very limited elevation/depression (depending on perspective) and will often fail to engage any target that has a lead indicator above the centerline of the vessel.

Thanks, I'll test that. When I put the frag there and purposefully lift the nose vs the target at close range, it still doesn't fire with every trigger pull. I have to work at it but it eventually works.

99% of the time if a gun isn’t firing it’s because your own ship is in the way. Adjust your pitch and you’ll find you can hit what you’re aiming for with the gun you want. The big ships are somewhat notorious for this.

You're probably right. In my case the target is directly in front of me, even a little low to accommodate the L hardpoint and the stupid thing wont fire.

It’s not a turret is it? They can have some odd behaviors depending on the firing mode.
I’m way too far from my nearest Corvette to test.

Been there, done that.
Couldn't be bothered, stuck a focused pulse turret on it, and just pretend it doesn't exist. Stoopid hardpoint.:(

Had same problem, had a corrosive multi on that hard point and it never fired on enemies. I ended up putting seeker missiles on that one and the c1 and c2s. Put beams on the c4s.

Dunno about that.

My Corvettes have got ventral gimballed MCs and they seem to track & fire almost all the way up to the top of my screen.

As a rule, I try to keep my MC's on-target properly, just to avoid getting lazy for when I'm using fixed MCs, so it always surprises me just how much of an arc-of-fire the ventral hardpoint has.

If you stuck a beam laser in there, targeted a nav-buoy (cos they don't get upset when you shoot at them, and they don't move) and used the camera-suite to get an extrenal view of the laser firing, I'd bet it'd be clipping though the nose of the ship, as is the case with the FdL.

If I was the OP, the first thing I'd do would be to stick a beam laser in that slot and verify whether or not it's actually firing.

Solid advise here. Never used a Nav Beacon that way though - clever.

Keep your target well below your centerline. The C4 hardpoints have stupidly good depression. I personally see this more as a feature than a liability, because I've put a corrosive MC there, which runs out of ammo faster than my two C4 MCs up top. I keep all three MCs on the same fire button, and thanks to that quirk I can choose whether the C3 one actually fires or not, only firing it to apply the corrosive effect.

unlike the C4 slot of the Anaconda and FDL, the C3 slot on the corvette has not the ability to clip through the ships own hull.
there was a clip on youtube showing the difference from a 3rd person sideview.

Since they have implemented the C3 Missile racks, i have put a large seeker launcher in that slot, for drag missiles.
Considering putting a modified C3 Torp launcher there for Assasinations

This is the reason I quited flying corvette since 2016.All multicanon cutter has better dps vs all multie vette. While all mounts will be empty on ammo, L mount will be half empty.

Yeak indeed, i remember getting used to this on the Viper when i was new, was a challenge to get it pitched up sometimes back then without engineering and such. We only had "Grade 5 Dirty Flight Assist off and 4 pips to engines"
