Could community goals be replaced by something better?

Community goals seem like repetitive fetch-quests to me. I don't see the point in doing something that has a pre-determined outcome.

Therefore, what could they be replaced by?

I don't agree with giving feedback that says "This isn't good enough" - this is demoralising, unhelpful and usually wastes time as people figure out what a better solution might be.

Therefore, what could they be replaced by and how would it work?

Rather than just replacing CG's, I think what is needed is truly competitive Community Goals, where a player chooses a side & must stick with them til the bitter end......& where only one side can "win" the CG. This makes the outcome much less pre-determined. I'd also like to see Mission Concepts like Wrinkles & Chains to apply to community goals....again to ensure that the CG's don't become a fait accompli.
