Could Cortana Be Part Of Elite Dangerous?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencet...panned-Windows-8-software-September-30th.html

The soon to be unveiled Windows 9 will have the VR avatar "Cortana" (straight out the game as Microsoft bought the rights).

According to reports, Cortana "which can take verbal instructions to search the Web, set alarms, make calls and a host of other actions, is still in beta testing but will soon be a standard feature on Windows phones and desktops".

Therefore my question is this. As Windows 9 is being released to developers around 30th September this year and due for public release around March 2015, could we as users, incorporate the Cortana service into the game to have Cortana carry out voice activated commands of in-game actions like "raise shields", "boost", "lower undercarriage" etc?

You have heard of voice attack right?

Which does this, right now. [very well I might add once you set it up.]

Hi, yes I have heard of Voice Attack. It was just the idea of a Cortana Avatar appearing in your cockpit which got me thinking it'd be something different, that's all.

Doubt it because:

A. Licensing issues
B. That's an OS function vs ED a separate program

Also to me that would kinda wreck immersion.

I do like my avatar image. :)

Licensing? Pah, all I'm saying is wouldn't it be neat to interact an OS function (on the Black) into a game's schematics?

In my opinion, Cortana isn't anything but a glorified GUI/Gimmick to a standard voice recognition system, which is already in place in multiple devices across multiple operating systems.

It's text-to-speech quality is unparalleled, (haven't seen the speech-to-text yet), but the features and gimmicks are just bloat.

I presume that if it becomes a standard feature you'll be able to set custom macros with Cortana, otherwise it's use will be very limited, so it'll probably work like voice attack does now.

What could possibly go wrong with an always-on microphone and a windows installation?

I really wish MS would concentrate on making a solid, no nonsense, non-intrusive OS rather than this whole infantile touchy smartphone-on-a-desktop thing they seem hell bent on.

'Cortana' had better be deletable.

They can do an infantile touchy smartphone-on-a-desktop thing, but give us a "I'm not a numpty" setting that disables it and provides a proper gui that isn't dumbed down.
Why is it in Windows Explorer with XP if you selected all the files and folders in a directory it would tell you the total size of the files in the status bar, but with W7/8 (apart from the status bar being disabled by default) if you include folders in the selection it gives you no information about the file size?
Several times there's been an option for "more information" that gives exactly the same information just in a bigger font.
The status bar used to be useful.
Sorry, ranting from having to use the infantile touchy smartphone-on-a-desktop thing on Server 2012. It's a SERVER for the love of humanity! Why does it need a touch friendly interface???
I need a cuppa.
