Could I have talked my way out of it?

While pootling round in my newly acquired, still-got-that-new-ship-smell imperial clipper (after weeks of mission grinding) I decide to head over to get in on the Ceti bounty hunting CG - being allied with all the factions means I get a warm welcome everywhere..

So I head out to start hunting, loving the sheer number of cmdrs in the system - I spot another clipper on the scanner - great! They quickly interdict me though, hmm, maybe they want to say hi.. no such luck..

The Cmdr is doing some hard RP - announces "Traitor! Patreus will hear of this!" ok I'll play along, demanding proof of my betrayal, perhaps foolishly adding "dog" at the end, which sounds a good and a proper reaction for a Baron of the empire such as myself - its because I'm packing a KWS (and presumably picking up fed bounties in the CG..?) I'm thinking of a convincing response- but that's enough chat for them, they open fire devastatingly..

While I always usually play in open, I've not had too many run ins of the pvp variety, plus I'm flying an under-specced, unfamiliar ship - I'm quickly looking at the rebuy screen as the experienced cmdr toasts me in seconds.. 2 mil down the tubes..

So I re-arm, think to have a crack at revenge, and head back out - "Traitor!" he makes a beeline straight for me again, interdicted, submit quick scrap - but I barely escape alive!

Ok once more, re-tool, head back - "Traitor!" - interdicted - this time by a Python he's winged up with! No chance in hell as they both chase me down ..

I'm forced to slink off to pick up my vulture in the hope I won't get spotted again..

Anyway, good game cmdr, lots of fun (if costly), enjoyed getting pwnd by the stalwart Imperial ruthlessly RPing which I found very funny, although technically I'm not a traitor, I'm a double agent and not sure I deserved such zealous purification - think I need to read up on the lore to talk my way out of such situations, I doubt it would have helped..

It depends, some players are out for blood and use any excuse to kill you. I got accused of being a pirate, in my ship with no weapons...

Having said that it will help in 1.3 where you can align yourself to a leader and provide "proof" that you are not a traitor. Although I wouldn't rely on this to be saved as I mentioned above....

Yeah this seemed like a good intro to the kind of hostility to expect.. Its all good, I need some pvp practice, might do it in a cheaper ship though..

PVP whole new game. Specially if they are loaded for combat and you are not.

I am hoping that Thargoids will be a SERIOUS NPC as current AI NPC are do easy for some (See forums on this subject).

Yeah some are downright great and friendly players, just not most people you meet :p
Vulture is ideal for the cheaper rebuy but still having firepower to take on enemies. Clipper (if upgraded) is ok since you can normally run if it goes badly although hardpoint placement isn't great for chaff.
