Could I run VR on this spec...

So I'm looking at getting a brand new machine, and I've never really put a spec together before.

Could this run Elite Dangerous with VR?

Any advice welcome, thanks in advance! :)

I would change one of the hard drives to a lower RPM model, since it seems that you'll use it as storage. Lower noise, lasts longer ;) Consider getting an SSD for the system partition too!
And yes, it looks fine for VR.

Easily. All the new 10-series cards are better for VR than the Maxwell-based ones. I have a 1060 3GB and an AMD FX-8300 and I pass the SteamVR test pretty well. Although my motherboard is a piece of trash and only registers 2/8 of my CPU cores, so that's a limiting factor...

Hell no!!!

Your case is incompatible.

I think your power cable is too short too.

But seriously, it looks fine. Just make sure you have the 2 USB 3.0 ports for the CV1, assuming you're going for a CV1...

Looks like a killer system. Don't pay too much.

There will be a big difference in resolution playing in 2D at possibly 4K on your monitor vs in VR on a Rift CV1/Vive.

Definitely get a SSD (256MB or higher for the OS drive... and install your most used games there too - waaaay faster than a 7200rpm drive.

Yes it should run OK in most situations. You're a little below spec on CPU so some scenes may drop below 90 fps (CPU speed determines the minimum FPS), but the Async timewarp or Valve equivalent should take care of most of that. That CPU can overclock by about 10% without much struggle; you might consider that if you aren't happy with FPS in certain areas.

A solid state drive also helps stabilize framerates when texture loads occur (which seems to happen transitioning from supercruise to orbital cruise to planetary landnigs).

Overall you'll still have a good experience as-is!
