Could Patch 2.4 Be Atmo Planet Landing?

To be honest, i really can't think what 2.4 will be. Maybe personal asteroid homes or something like that.

If I was going to guess I'd say a full Thargoid war, with systems being controlled and captured etc...

And I'd also guess we'll get gas giants before atmosphere worlds. And worlds with life might be in season 4 (it's such a colossal challenge, particularly in a multiplayer environment).
 
I suspect you are correct regarding earthlike planets. I would say another 2 years away even. But atmpspheric planets without life could certainly be coming sooner then that. Mars of today type of planets. I certainly see these as a possibility in the soonish future, but I doubt 2.4.

Aliens will be for both the main game and horizons i would think.

EVA/space walkies will be later, possibly at the end of this year.

Someone at Frontier, I think it was Mr. Braben, alluded to voice acting playing a major role in the 2.4 update, which make me think (as stated above) that there will be story/plot driven mission arcs that will be coming in 2.4, complete with cut scenes and drama.

Doubt that. How would you gate it for horizons users. As I said that will be for everyone. I am sure there will also be some planetary alien stuff, but I can't see that being the main updates. It will need to be something specific that is easily gated.
 
atoms planets are a lot of time and processing for such little actual content. I can always play NMS for a pretty planet simulator.

Let's hope they focus on alien content and large scale PvE battles, along with some other wanted mechanics.

General gameplay mechanics will be for everyone and not just horizons players. We are talking about the headline feature for 2.4, not generic updates.
 
I'm right with the probability of a 3.x version around atmo-planet management along a season, why that ? :
1- Because season 2 is (or was) all stuff of ship environment (Ship landing, ship enhancement with engineers, ship crew).
2- For me, the 2.4 will be an extension of commander's modeling as unique individuals .... that is, walking on current non-atmospheric planets and go outside your ship in space.
3- The only thing that is not still developped in dangerous but was in previous version of Elite was the atmo-planet environment.
4- The business model of Frontier concerning Elite Dangerous is dictate by the value of firm for actionners ... so Frontier must inovate between two seasons of Elite Dangerous ou close the project to start a new one.
5- For the same previous reason we all compare Elite Dangerous with Star Citizen's ... ED must do the same concerning Atmo-planet landing and all connected.
6- there is nothing to do more in Elite dangerous, you may say FPS .... this is not the philosophy of ED !

This is why the next season will be PLANET, and may be ONLY PLANETS because this is a project in the project as was the season 2 ... the standard Elite Dangerous and the sub-project Horizons.
