Discussion Could pre-2.3 data be formatted into a 2.3 format Journal Log file?

A question, maybe questions, for the API-programmers, please?

I assume that there is a set "template" for the 2.3 Journal log text record? Has someone designed anything that allows users to populate a record with data from other sources into a 2.3 format?

To illustrate: I have many thousands of records in an xml file that were derived from the excellent ExplorerOCR application. I also have screen shots of info about the stellar bodies. There will be other data sources arranged into other formats, I am sure. These go way back to before the Journal log existed. Now the issue seems to be that these early files do not contain data that 2.3 needs (e.g. atmosphere composition).

So, if there was app that allowed me to key in the data that I do have, could valid entries such as zeroes or nulls be placed in the fields that 2.3 expects but for which no data exists.

Could these 2.3-format records then be made into a "Journal" log that could be loaded successfully into EDSM, EOG, EDDB etc?

Sorry this was a long post...

Flying happily with lots and lots of pre-2.3 data.

As was pointed out to me on Discord (where I asked the same question), this would present the less than scrupulously honest the opportunity to "spoof" the data. Yes, I hadn't thought about that aspect of this...to me everyone is honest! Oh well. It seems a shame to not have access to all of the previous findings but perhaps it would be impossible to facilitate this without it being open to abuse.
