Could we talk a second about that CQC screenshot in the newsletter?

I mean this one, of the "Orbital Junction" map:

Is that an orbital elevator??!!!????

I have been thinking a bit about this video. If this is not in engine footage, then what is it?

The same handwavium coded engine that allowed that Cobra to do a backflip and blast a pursuer to smithereens and seamlessly transition from realtime to SC back to realtime right next to a station. Oh I forgot also the same engine that allows people to walk around the space stations :)

To fly similar like that requires FA OFF but only joysticks with hats get full control of this. The ships movement also have next to no atmosphere (like Star Citizen) and move very rapidly in controlled turns. Well ingame is somewhat slower - much slower. It's all cartoon looking for a trailer. All that on a XBOX pad - lol! Such a lie.

Nothing we see in trailers comes out. It could be a robbed idea from S.C.

Oh please... planetary elevators where already an idea in the Sci-Fi Genre long before Chris Roberts even had the idea about SC. Besides that, sure looks like one - at least i cannot imagine what else this thing should be.

What i find more interesting is the fact, that this station is the first one which entrance is actually pointing into the right direction - towards SPACE. I will never understand the logic behind the reason why all station entrances (especially Coriolis) face the planet, not open space from where all the ships (or at least a great amount of) come from. Doesn't need a planetary elevator to make the current station alignment look kinda strange, at least if you ask me.

which direction towards open space should it point to? pointing towards the planet is probably where most of the incoming and outgoing traffic is headed. In any situation where the station is sourcing items from the planet or if there is a planetary population, the vast majority of station traffic would be to the planet.

in any case, there is no "right" direction to point. there are no "space lanes".

Well, it should point towards... space. If you think different, okay. But i would guess most traffic comes from outside the planetary boundaries, including the traffic we can't actually see. So imho, a station should point arround 180° from its "gravitational anchor" towards space. Pretty much like what we see in that screenshot. Wouldn't change much ingame, as it depends on the direction you come from relativ to the location of the station surrounding its planet, but still.

This.

Or why they don't have 2 doors(one each end) IN and OUT. But that would ruin the pointless turning the ship around equipment....
