Ships Couldn't FC upkeep costs be charged monthly instead of weekly?

From what I understand upkeek exists in order to prevent the server from overloading with unused FC hanging around at the instances, but, a cost of, I don't know, 10 M per week sounds like a lot, even for someone who plays 3 hours a day. I don't want to try to ressurect a dead horse here nor anything but if the upkeep cost must be charged, wouldn't be better to pay 10 M per month (approximately given that not many players would fully equip their FC or leave it empty)? That way players that would like to buy an FC would not feel pressured because of the cost of maintaining one. I don't know, I think it's a good idea, what do you guys think?

The cost of maintaining a FC is nothing to anyone that knows how to get the money to buy one. With the recent buffs "rebalance", it's only getting easier.
Well, yeah, I understand that an FC is an end-game treat, and I hope the "rebalances" keep coming to make the game less "unbalanced" and I sure hope that that will affect how "dedicated" a player has to be to maintain his FC. But, suppose you have "just" the money to buy one plus I don't know, 2 B extra. One thing is to park the FC somewhere inside the bubble and try to maintain it through trading and providing services to players/NPCs. The other one is to actually take your mobile base with you to explore the deep space, with the added risk/uncertainty and lack of clientelle, buying markets and so on, it seem a little taxing on the possible playstyles you know what I mean?

I'm out in the black with a carrier. 16 mill a week (it's in conjunction with the weekly tick on thursdays) is peanuts honestly.
I made 22 million in a few hours just exploring and mapping stuff.
This thing about the fees to keep one is rubbish. Get a carrier IF you need one and just work at paying for its upkeep as you play. Worrying about it solves nowt.
And yes budget about 8 bill for purchase. If you wana equip with a full shipyard or modules etc it'll cost alot more. The basics are about 7 bill as l recall

You spent 5 billion on a toy.
Upkeep is nothing.
Mining in the black. JEEZ
Explorers knew what they were getting into when they took a carrier exploring. Didn't they?

Yes any carrier will have its own UC which is a major bonus we fought hard to get. Originally fdevs didn't wanna UC on board. Also having all my ships modules and the ability to repair rearm is priceless out in the black

Well, yeah, if you can sell exp. data to yourself, that changes things lol. I heard they nerfed the price a lot from when it came out, and recently had a buff to combat. I hope they buff other payouts as well.

Upkeep is literally negligible. I started my epic alt yesterday and got 6M in 40 mins in the stock sidey just casually kill stealing from system authorities in a high res.

10M is nothing. It could be higher, it was higher when beta launched.

It isn't. It's a easily paid for. Even casually a few hours a week you can raise 10 or 20 mill in a single combat related mission. Or sit in a haz res for an hour. Hand those bountys in easily covers it. Mining you could cover a years worth of fees in a weekends worth of mining.
But for me exploration is it.
Discovering earth like worlds waterworlds high metal terraformables etc easily pay for Carriers fees.

Oh ok, I was afraid of buying one then not being able to maintain it. It looked difficult.
The key to think about is that the base Fleet Carrier costs 5 billion, and upkeep is 5 million per week.

So if you plan to obtain the Fleet Carrier in less than 1000 weeks (~20 years) you'll have no trouble covering the upkeep.

For a fully-featured Fleet Carrier your cost is going to be close to 7 billion, and upkeep close to 25 million (give or take, depending on exactly what services you fit). So still, if you plan to make money fast enough to afford the Fleet Carrier in the first place in less than half a year, you'll be okay to cover the upkeep.

And if you do plan to take a break from the game for a bit, you can take off most of the extra services to get the upkeep back down to the basic 5 million during your break.

...now, what might seem difficult is getting those billions in the first place. But by the time you've figured out how to do that the upkeep will be easy.

(Plus, while it might not seem like it with all the talk of continuous nerfs, the general trend in earning rates only goes upwards - when I started out, anything above 30M/hour was shut down fairly quickly ... nowadays, 200M/hour seems more to be the limit. So in another few years it'll probably be even easier)

Yeah that makes sense
