Horizons Couldn't leave a planet (SRV/Ship/Recall)

I've been trying hard to get away from a planet but:

1) My SRV was in an area of jagged vertical ridges and cliffs, seemingly impossible to climb. Lots of structural damage trying to.
2) The recall command always had the ship land very far from my SRV, usually on top of far cliffs, impossible to reach without breaking the SRV.

In the end I had to self-destruct. Granted, I'm no expert so I might have done something wrong, but I don't understand what. The possibility of your SRV getting stuck in some horrible place is a reality. I accept I might have done some mistake, but the recall thing is frankly nonsense. What's the point of the ship landing so far? There were plenty of flat areas near me.

Anyone got similar experience?

Unfortunately it's just how it is. Until they either update the ship AI so it lands in better places or give us the option to manually designate a landing zone ourselves you will come across situations where you can't get to the ship or get yourself stuck. It'll happen. Make sure to bring a backup SRV with you for long exploration trips in case you lose one to such an incident.

I hope they'll look into improving this next year when they get back from the holidays.

OP : you should recall/dismiss until it land close to you, or even hovers close to you as then you will be able to board.
Here's my similar tale :

Oh, how I tried... It always arrived very far and landed on such remote cliffs, that it never got close enough to me even to read the license plate :p
