counter mission from rival faction removes option of original mission

I've done (or rather attempted) a couple of missions in the last couple of days where something weird has happend, one was to kill 3 pirates, where I've got so far and then had a message from a rival faction ship, trying to persuade me to abandon the mission and receive payment from them.

Well. I try to be a man of my word, and tried to stick with the original mission, but that seems to have disappeared, and either there's a bug or the assumption is that you will drop the mission and follow the request of this rival faction guy (who presumably is well versed with the Bene Gesserit voice or Jedi mind tricks).

It maybe me getting confused, but be that as it may the rival faction mission replaces the original text in your contract screen, so you no longer have a record of the requirements of the original mission. :-/

Anybody else had this?

You're getting confused If you look at the "new" mission, you'll see both of them listed in there. The ones I tended to see were "Go kill 5 pirates". Then I run into the guy that offers me to ignore that and "Go kill 3 traders". You can still kill the 5 pirates and go claim your reward from the station you originally got the contract from.
