Counter to hyperdiction (or it's removal, please)

Thargoids can pull you out of hyperspace and it's not scripted, it happens at random

Well, technically, "random" hyperdiction is likely still scripted as well, though I presume they were talking about what happens when you're hypferdicted, so it's neither here nor there, really.

You are playing Pretend Spaceman. We have meaniehead aliens now. You are likely in their territory and they do not like it. None of this seems out of place except perhaps the soulless description of this as pure game code process hindering you from some other aspect of pretending to be a spaceman.

Nothing you are doing is so important that aliens can't pull you over for a bit when you're rolling in their turf, not to mention EVERYONE else in space does this. NPC cops and military yank people all the time; much less ship disabling but many more attempts. Potential setback is part of the game.

Pretty much sums up the entire game, lol.

This is one of the most cool things involving the Thargoids! I have had it many times and it is still exciting.

On the most recent occasion I was hyperdicted by no fewer than four Thargoids, which was pretty chilling! They took one look at my unarmed, unshielded exploraconda, realised they were no match for me, and wisely withdrew...:p

I know this forum is full of ridiculous complaints, this one takes the biscuit.

On a more serious note, I haven't used any anti-xeno hardware so I'm a bit confused here. I believe there is something you can fit that prevents the Thargoid's shut-you-down beam from working, but I was under the impression that only worked in Non-Human Signal Sources and not the hyperdiction from Witchspace. Is that not the case? Can we take control after a hyperdiction now, and pursue the Thargoid before it runs away?

I've only been hyperdicted three times, and they were all early on when I wasn't carrying anything alien so they just shut me down, scanned me and left. Do they pose an actual threat if you're carrying Thargoid tech or AX gear?

EDIT: I just read R34per's post so it looks like these scenarios are now interactive. Cool.

Aye man. The first time i fought a thargoid was after a huperdiction. They are much more difficult to fight in this situation as they pulse like crazy. It was a hell of a laugh trying to bring your guns to bear when your getting shut down every few minutes.

I've never been hyperdicted...am I like...the only one?

Nope, been hauling meta alloys for Aegis out of darnielles progress for 30 million per mission (180 tonnes each) flown missions for palin collecting thargoid resin and samples. General trucking around Pleiades, helping refugees, deep space mining near the Col sector and Aries dark region. Never been hyperdicted once.

I reboot the instant it lets me and jump out when I come back online. Meanwhile the thargoids bug out because they don't know I exist.

....which you can counteract the anti-EMP trivially....

Ah! Good point, sir! - I actually have one of those on the ship I use when I go out fighting Thargoids intentionally - it simply hadn't occured to me to fit one to other ships for use in hyperdictions - but having said that, it'd still involve a lot of the wasted time, if not all of it - I'd rather have something like the interdiction mini-game to give a chance to avoid it - perhaps now would be a natural time to look at introducing something like that, since we've begin to develop other anti-Thargoid technology - perhaps the hyperdiction could pull you out of witch-space into supercruise, then the mini-game starts, and if you're successful your jump completes, and if not, the script rolls.
If they didn't do that, there'd have to be some way to enable ship controls in witch space.

Also, I didn't realise hyperdiction was all that rare - I got hyperdicted shortly after it first came out, and I've been hyperdicted who-knows how many times since (interestingly, the Thargoid ship doesn't always appear) - perhaps I've been unlucky, although to be fair, I do spend a good deal of time in Pleiades space because I am having fun with my buddies trying to take down Thargoids, but the hyperdictions get annoying when you're travelling there and back, or doing something else, so that's why I asked for the counter.
As for considering switchign to NMS or SC - I'm not sure what those letters are short for, sorry.

Fit an anti shutdown field and time it after tge hyperdiction. If youre bored start carrying thargoid stuff and risk dying if you time improperly.

I get hyperdicted any time I fly between two certain systems it seems. I don't mind. I just don't fly between certain systems.

hah! Alright, fair enough - I'll admit I did this post right after the latest hyperdiction happened and, if I'm honest, yeah there are other issues that probably need addressing as a higher priority - however, if they're gonna happen anyway, and it's easy to do, why not add in the mini-game? people that still want the experience can just throttle down or whatever the submit option is.

Yeah - I thought I had covered what I wanted in the OP, but I didn't explain carefully enough - I realised after typing hurriedly that asking for it's removal equates to asking for others to be denied the spectacle of one of these hyperdictions - the first time it happened to me was cool, so I was wrong to phrase it that way.

However, after about the fifth time and it's [almost] identical every time, you kinda just want to get on with your day - if I have to ctrl-alt-delete to skip it, I will, but I'd rather have an in-game method to get a chance at avoiding it - that was the intended main thrust of my post - I do wish I'd left the comment about removing it out, now!
