couple of more immersive suggestions

I have 2 suggestions that I think would help a lot for role play & storytelling.

1. AI crew, I want to put them in the empty seats next to me just so it looks like I have someone with me. I don't even care if they don't do anything and are there just for show, it would help out with some of my rp videos. That said if you could have them take over autopilot and landing gear etc would be nice.

2. I know elite isn't star citizen, but it would be nice for my character to actually get out of his chair for once and have a wander around the ship, I don't care if you can't interact with anything, and im not bothered about walking around starports, but it would be nice to see what my ships look like on the inside. Say for instance if you have a full cargo hold, you could see it all stacked up with crates, or if you have nothing, get to see an empty hold. Again just for immersion I would love to walk around the ship. and if you have ai crew on board, see them wandering around or welding damaged ship parts, or generally doing ambient ship work animations.

I wouldn't mind seeing the extra crew in the co-pilot seat. Not sure about walk through tho, there's other issues requiring FDev to address.

+1 on crew sitting with you.

If you ever get a chance, try it in VR (Vive; maybe Rift too?), you can "stand up" in your ship and walk around if you have the physical space.

Actually kind of cool to sit in the back and eat while your ship is in super cruse to Hutton! [haha]

Even in Eve Online, where you are essentially connected neurally to your ship, anything bigger than a frigate has multiple crew members who help run the ship. And even their frigates are said to support 2-3 crew members, though they can be run just by the pilot himself. Their largest ships have thousands of crew members.

Of course Eve's frigates are probably bigger than the majority of Elite ships.

If new options don't have functionality they will be just annoy players.

It would be nice to have things from both parts but they could have at least simple functionality.
For example:
- another AI crew pilot could execute docking and undocking procedures (so multi-seat ships could free a docking computer slot);
or
- approaching stations/planet bases/other objects;
or
- all together, etc.

Ability to leave the cockpit could be an light alternative of SRV (for example on missions where scanning of surface data-banks needed).
