Couple of questions about Elite Dangerous

Here are a few questions about elite dangerous I have ?

Firstly having played played Frontier and First Encounters the playable ship count seems a little low. You had Imperial ships like the courier, federation ships as well but independent ships like the lion, cobra mkI, viper mk II, etc. Is the playable ships going to be expanded in the future.

Whilst on ships the highlight and redeeming feature of First Encounters was getting your hands on a thargoid wayship, is that going to be possible via missions?

Are imperial and federation ranks coming back?

At lastly any advice on which joystick to buy as currently looking at the saitek x52?

Beware of Saitek's horrible drivers. Apart from that, the x52 is nice. You might want to get the pro mostly for the looks.

Welcome aboard Commander!

There will be at least 25 playable ships at launch, as per the Kickstarter.

They're quite tight-lipped on the question of ancient aliens right now.

Yes indeed.

There are many good options, the X52 included. I went for the X55 and haven't regretted it, but there are cheaper options such as the T-Flight HOTAS X which also do a fine job by all accounts.

You can consider investing on a cheap Joystick before going pro ... Logitech 3D Extreme Pro is quite cheap and reliable.
