Engineers Couple of questions about Power Distributor.

I'm a new player currently trying to find my way around engineering my ship, and the distributor and its 4 blips thing confused me for a bit.

When my distributor say it has a Weapon Recharge Rate of 8.8, is that at 2 blips or all 4 blips?
I thought it'd be 4 blips, but my weapons are using 10.8 EPS, which is obviously more than 8.8, but at 4 blips they can still fire indefinitely.

And how much of a different between 1, 2 blips and 4 blips in term of recharge rate?

The WEP capacitor display shows how much energy is available to cool weapon systems. Weapons are powered by the Power Plant, so if you have enough power they will keep firing as long as the WEP capacitor can cool them, assuming you have enough ammo (if needed). Obviously with 4 pips to WEP you will be able to cool your weapons better/longer than with only 2 pips to WEP. Should the WEP bar empty, your weapons will automatically shut off until the capacitor begins to replenish at your Weapons Capacitor Recharge Rate of 8.8 MJ/s. See Elite Dangerous Manual page 136 for more details.

ED Shipyard is invaluable for helping you to understand and virtually try out all the different options with outfitting and engineering. Coriolis is a similar tool.

Make sure you install and start ED Market Connector before you start Elite. You can set it up easily to update all these third party tools, so you can just click on your current ship name to open it up in EDSY and then tweak the modules to understand how they work decide how you want to upgrade them.

The displayed recharge rate is at 4 pips. I believe (not 100% sure) it is directly proportional as well, so an 8.8 recharge at 2 pips would be 4.4, 3 pips 6.6, etc. With a recharge rate of 8.8 and a draw of 10.8, you should eventually run out of capacity, so not sure what's going on there. Are you sure the capacity isn't 8.8 rather than the recharge rate?

A g5 charged enhance 7a PD has 8.8 recharge and I checked on Coriolis with weapons for a 10.8 draw, with 4 pips it would drain it in about 30 seconds.
