Just something that occured to me....
I can land at any station, try to do some remote-engineering and, if I find I've got a legacy module fitted, I can go into Outfitting, remove the mod' and then I can usually apply a G4 mod' from my stockpile of mat's.
I could make the effort to travel to an appropriate Engineer and have them convert the legacy module, thus saving a few trivial mat's, but it still gets nerfed back to G4.
Would it not make more sense if the "reward" for making the effort to travel to an Engineer to get a legacy mod' updated was that the mod' didn't get downgraded during the process?
I get that FDev probably wanted to avoid people "exploiting" the new system by making 1-roll G5 mod's and then converting them to the new system but, let's face it, collecting G1-G4 mat's is so easy that simply removing a legacy mod' and then applying a new G4 mod' is always going to be less hassle than travelling to an Engineer just to save a handful of G1-G3 mat's.
Also, on a related note, would it not be better if EVERYTHING related to engineering was handled, at stations, under the "Remote Engineering" tab?
We currently have this cryptic system where legacy modules are simply not shown in Remote Engineering so, if you're smart, you can go to Outfitting, look at what modules have mod's, then go to Remote Engineering and see which modded modules don't show-up there to find out if they're legacy modules and then you can go back to Outfitting, remove the legacy mod's, go back to Remote Engineering again and apply a new mod'.
Would it not be simpler if the Remote Engineering doodad simply showed every mod' applied to your ship and then you could click on one, get told it's a legacy mod' and be offered the opportunity to remove it?
We already have all the tools that allow us to do this, so it's not like it'd be giving us anything extra.
It'd just be more straightforward and less convoluted.
