Couple Questions

Hi. I bought that $75 pack the other day, started the game, was just doing the tutorials to get the hang of things. Got stuck on the travel one, stuck in Hyperspace or whatever. Did a search and read that it is bugged, or buggy. But anyways, chose a name etc, but don't I get to choose from a bunch of starting options? Or is that just on the 16th of Dec? I only had the option to start in a sidewinder, which I guess is the basic start? I wanted to start as Traveler I think it was. Also, after reading the forums a bit it seems there's been some exploits. Should I wait until the 16th to start playing for progress? I'll play a bit to learn the basics obviously, but if there's just going to be a wipe in a couple weeks, I'll probably wait to start playing more until then. Also, I watch Scott Manley play when he does videos on the game, and he mentioned he disabled mutliplayer or something. I know they canceled the single player mode or whatever, but is there still an option somewhere to not connect to the server or something. This was his most recent video, which is less than a week old.

Greetings pilot!

K, the big rundown.

The extracool starting options were for Kickstarter backers. Though if you're playing now then you got in pre-gamma, so you'll have a free Eagle fighter somewhere. Optimally it should be close but I've heard stories of it being stupid-faraway as well, ymmv. It's not like the starting Sidewinder which can't be sold for monies or reobtained after destruction; it's a onetime for the life of your char, so if you blow it up or sell it, gone, but you CAN sell it for a quick infusion of starting cash if you want to.

It's an always online game, so that means:
A) No offline mode. Note that this is NOT the same as Solo, what Manley did I'd bet. Solo is a grouping, not a difference between offline and online. It means you're grouped with yourself but you're still part of the wider galaxy; you just won't see any live players.
B) Online games like this are never finished development unless they die. There will always be things added to this game for its duration. There's likely to always be some kind of exploit due to the people who live to find such things, as well as future additions to the game and what that could bring. Since the game is less about direct competition with the statuses of other players, their exploits so to speak aren't going to affect you as much, especially since you can literally avoid all other humans if you want.

Yes, there's likely to be a wipe on the 16th, more out of caution's sake than anything, but be expectant of it. That said, this is the perfect time to mess around and not worry about restarts or ruining yourself being silly.

Think I covered it for now! Good luck CMDR.

Sweet, thanks for the answers.

Is there any way to find my other ship? Or just mosey around hundreds of stations 'till I find it, lol :D

So there is a sort of solo play where you don't have to worry about other players just killing you all the time. Just have to worry about AI jumping me then :)

Go to any station with a shipyard and go to the shipyard. on the far right tab is a list of your owned assets which are elsewhere. Click on
the tab and it'll tell you which system your eagle is in. Remember the name (and spelling) of the system and go to galaxy map from your cockpit
click on the navigation tab and type in the name of the system to find out where it is :)

See you out in space, commander!!

edit: Yes to your solo play question!
