Courier Missions On The Bulletin Board

For the first time yesterday I noticed courier missions appearing on the bulletin boards I don't remember seeing these before. They consist of taking packages to various systems and fail if your ship is destroyed.

Are these new or am I just blind?

Also the rewards for the missions were much too low the highest I saw was about 500 creds which seems super low.

No, they've been there all the time. Some involve just taking 1 item to the destination, some require 5 to 7 tons of cargo space.

The prices vary of course. Normally I'd take them if I were going that way for trading too.

These are new missions since yesterday, many people have reported.

FD mission system is managed server side, so they don't need to update client to introduce new types.

I find all the bulletin board missions so utterly useless I don't even check them.

The combat ones don't pay enough to make it worth looking at them.

The trading ones require more effort than it's worth to bother reading them and mentally plan how to resolve versus their reward. Why bother reading one, looking at what it wants, work out if you're going that way and then taking up 1 or 2 of you hundreds of cargo spaces when you could just go '440 of X please' done, launch. repeat.

Actually it's easy.

Assume you're going to System A to sell Item B because that's your "profitable route". So you check the BB at the station to see if anyone wants to deliver anything to System A as well. Sometimes, they want to deliver the exact Item B which you're going to carry anyway. Otherwise if it's 5 tons of something else, I just work out if the promised reward for the 5 tons are more than what profit I would make if I sold 5 tons of Item B, I'd take that mission too.

With the market dynamics (it appears) also being switched back on yesterday it seems that balance may be slowly shifting back, with trading becoming less profitable, and certainly less predictable. Constant returns on the same runs may soon be a thing of the past.
