Took a Covert Infiltration mission that required uploading a virus to a settlement data port. Proceeded with the following steps as follows:
1. Successfully cloned L3 profile
2. Successfully shut down settlement alarms
3. Successfully initiated upload...
Repeated steps 1-3 several times. On first couple tries, I got detected with about 50% upload remaining, which necessitated retreat. Was able to successfully exit the building and laid low for a couple minutes (literally ... a couple minutes). Returned to within range of the target building and personnel were still showing as aggro'd. The whole settlement wasn't coming after me or anything, just the technicians that caught me during the upload. Returned to ship and paid 500CR fine for unauthorized data access, disembarked (still retained L3 cloned profile), and returned to the building ... same result. Finally left settlement (no fine, no bounty, no alarm), SC'd back to orbit then dropped back in which reset the settlement.
The last time I went in I repeated steps 1-3 no problem. I found a nice spot to lay low but at around 90% of completing the upload some tech detects me and opens fire. I raised shields and waited out the upload, which got to 100%. Then I got a notification that a fine was assessed for unauthorized data access and another that said something to the effect of "item no longer in backpack." Thinking I was done I exited the building and started making my way back to ship, but mission notification was still saying "upload virus to [data port]". At this point there are still no alarms and the only aggressive NPCs are the techs in the building, so I go back in to the target data port to see if there was some final step I missed ... selected "upload data" at the data port and it said my hard drive was empty.
So I board my ship and head back to base where I got the mission. Mission still shows up in "Transactions" as in-progress, neither failed nor completed. So I check in with the mission provider and they've completely forgotten about that mission.
I exit to main menu and log back in, same situation. Mission is still listed as in-progress in "Transactions" but mission provider is ready to give me a new one and offers no indication that the other mission is still outstanding.
Being new to the on-foot missions I'm not sure if this a common glitch among the many glitchy aspects of Ody, but it's one I've not encountered before.
EDIT: Just logged back in, got a nice 50,000 CR fine from mission provider for failing original mission. This is after completing two massacre missions from the same provider after they seemingly forgot about the first one. ¯\(ツ)/¯
Also, Frontier's Issue Tracker is not allowing me to submit a report "at this time". I'm guessing they're simply deluged.
