Hardware & Technical CPU Question..

Hello

I just wondered if anyone is using or has built a system around the AMD FX 8370E Black Edition 3.3GHz for playing Elite? As I looked through the specs needed and also the CPUs that drop within that area of the spec. Also Im trying to do n a buget hence looking at this CPU.
If the CPU will work I then need to start looking towards Motherboard and GPUs. So if anyone can offer any suggestions whilst remembering the buget restraints.

I suppose I could also go down the route of 2nd user machine? Such as from a owner that is looking to upgrade to a newer or faster unit?:rolleyes:

I read in the press that it is a good processor and accepts the overclocking (4.4 ghz). You can also to see for the Intel I5. With the FX 8370E you can play EDH without problems, I think. A good GPU is the most important

A lot depends on your other usage scenarios. While it is a great processor with an unlocked multiplier for overclocking, 8 cores at 3.3GHz is overkill for this game. Massive multithreading is still not a big thing in gaming, so a quad core at 3.3GHz will save you a lot of money, which you can then spend on the graphics card: While the base game is still pretty light on resources, Horizons needs a GTX970 for 1080p at ultra, and even then in the big planetside bases you'll see FPS drops into the low 50s.

Without some more details about how you plan to use the CPU and your actual budget, I can only go on the fact that you play Elite. For this game, that CPU costs probably twice as much as you need to spend on an AMD chip.
