CQC - Arena: An Idea

Last year at this time, CQC or Arena was available for free on Steam for a limited time. This introduced many people to the flight mechanics of the main game and acted as advertising for the franchise. CQC has fallen in popularity, but with the introduction of PS4 users there's an opportunity.

In my opinion, giving CQC/Arena away for free, or some low amount like $0.99 on PC, XBox and PS4 will be a major promotion. This gets more people in CQC for matches, spreads the word on the main game and teaches people the flight mechanics needed to survive. It will certainly result in more people getting involved in the franchise.

If development costs have been covered for CQC / Arena then there's no loss in giving it away (or for a low amount). It could be the thin end of the wedge onto their hard drives. Someone with 25+ hours in Arena will have fewer issues in-game as well.

Cheers.

If I'd drawn any conclusions from CQC Arena, they'd have been that the netcode simply doesn't work and the game just flat-out never starts.
As a result of that, I would never have risked spending £40-odd on a game that might prove to be literally unplayable.
