CQC / CG Event

Would a CQC centric Community Goal event be something that would intrest you folks?
As a CG it would have a built in payout. A payout that would compound as participation elevated.
And, sense it's within the CQC arenas, it would be free of gankers.
The endgame here, of course, is to make CQC a viable mode.

I'd be interested, but I think it would be somewhat difficult to jump straight to having an entire CG based on something most people haven't even tried.

Probably the best way to do it would be to have it happen over a few weeks. Week one; increase the credit payouts from CQC by about 100000x. I've played it for probably 50 hours and have made a grand total of about 50k credits, or about 500c/hr. Taking that up by 100000x would result in payouts of about 50m/hour, which seems quite reasonable. You could nerf it back some afterwards.

The second week, give engineering materials as rewards. That'll REALLY get people frothing at the mouth to do it.

The third week, have the 'Grand CQC Championship' or something at the CG, with even better rewards, and you'll probably have record participation. After all, it's a game mode most people have NEVER tried.

You guys know that they had announced a 100.000 $ tournament when CQC launched initially ?
Basically never to be heard of again, after it had become clear that CQC (or "Arena" as it was called originally) was a complete dud participation-wise.
Now, i wouldn't know if that part of the game enjoys a higher popularity now than it did back then, but i feel that FD probably did the right thing by not committing
many more resources into it.

CQC will never be an integral part of the game, but that doesn't mean it couldn't still be a fun diversion, in the same vein as minigames like Castle Wars in Runescape.

The trick is to make playing it practical without sacrificing other gameplay. I think the BEST way to achieve this is by adding CQC terminals on fleet carriers(especially while waiting to jump) and on Apex taxis while in flight(if they wouldn't cancel the apex flight).

That allows CQC to be done in times that would otherwise be wasted. Then you just buff the rewards to be halfway decent, and I think you might see a reasonable number of people playing regularly.

I'd love to see it integrated with Powerplay, too. Have CQC leagues where merits are awarded based on your power's overall ranking, that'd be a good motivator.

Fair points.
What i would argue is that, if the prospect of a 100.000 $ tourney couldn't attract players to CQC, digital rewards and ARX are even less likely to.
And while i've read the suggestion frequently, i strongly doubt that a higher level of integration into the main game would make any difference whatsoever.
But of course, we can't know as long as that's not the case, so that discussion will remain purely theoretical.

I'm not sure - the motivations are somewhat different. I was, back when I played it regularly, one of the better CQC players ... but even then, never in the top 16 who would have had a chance at the grand prize. So the fact that the tournament never happened didn't really make a difference to me.

I would have quite appreciated earning more than 25000 credits per hour, though, as they'd have actually been useful in the main game.

There was a substantial increase in players when they made it possible to queue from the main game.

At the moment with Odyssey and Horizons instancing splits is probably not the best time for any big promotions (if you are looking for a CQC match, use the Horizons client) as it splits up the player base even more. Until that's fixed CQC is going to have difficulties.

Fleet Carrier jumps you can queue from the comms menu while waiting. Play 2-3 matches, then schedule the next jump.

Apex - and indeed, other things to do while on a long supercruise flight, Apex or otherwise - would be a good thing to have.
