What i would argue is that, if the prospect of a 100.000 $ tourney couldn't attract players to CQC, digital rewards and ARX are even less likely to.
I'm not sure - the motivations are somewhat different. I was, back when I played it regularly, one of the better CQC players ... but even then, never in the top 16 who would have had a chance at the grand prize. So the fact that the tournament never happened didn't really make a difference to me.
I would have quite appreciated earning more than 25000 credits per hour, though, as they'd have actually been useful in the main game.
And while i've read the suggestion frequently, i strongly doubt that a higher level of integration into the main game would make any difference whatsoever.
There was a substantial increase in players when they made it possible to queue from the main game.
At the moment with Odyssey and Horizons instancing splits is probably not the best time for any big promotions (if you are looking for a CQC match, use the Horizons client) as it splits up the player base even more. Until that's fixed CQC is going to have difficulties.
The trick is to make playing it practical without sacrificing other gameplay. I think the BEST way to achieve this is by adding CQC terminals on fleet carriers(especially while waiting to jump) and on Apex taxis while in flight(if they wouldn't cancel the apex flight).
Fleet Carrier jumps you can queue from the comms menu while waiting. Play 2-3 matches, then schedule the next jump.
Apex - and indeed, other things to do while on a long supercruise flight, Apex or otherwise - would be a good thing to have.
