CQC CQC Dead? 1.5 hr wait lol!

Pretty much as the thread says in the title, but seriously 1.5 hr wait for a team deathmatch?

How do these devs expect us to reach a prestige lvl of 9, when nobody queues anymore, let alone get our pilots federation rank for CQC to Elite.

This game must have a really small population lol

Interesting. I was able to get into a game in less than a minute today. That was a "Deathmatch" game, though. I made the experience that finding "Team Deathmatch" or "Capture The Flag" matches take much longer to find.

The 1.5 beta version of CQC seems to be bugged, no one seems to be able to get into a match, but the live version should be ok.

CQC was never going to be a big hit. Elite players are the wrong type of audience for that kind of thing.

Also the game is still often unplayably laggy and buggy when you have a bunch of players in a session. Not great for fast paced arena gameplay.

I totally disagree. I was against CQC when it was first announced, because I thought a virtual arena dog-fighting game doesn't fit into the Elite world. After playing a few matches I completely changed my mind, though. I think it's very well implemented, actually to the point that it is better in delivering what it tries to deliver than the main game is in delivering a living and breathing galaxy. Granted, CQCs ambition as a arena fighter is of much lesser scale than that of the main game, but does a lot of things right and is a joy to play.

CQC is fantastic, it's great to jump in and shoot other players without griefing.

Of course, it's not catered for those who like to play SpaceTruck Simulator 3215™

Of course however, haven't been able to get a game for a week.

It would be nice if it was possible to queue for all matches at once. I don't mind if I join deathmatch or team deathmatch. This would shorten queue time I reckon.

Beta's obviously don't have many players, there's no point to play CQC in beta other then to try out the new ships and you do not really use that long to do that last I checked, so there's not that many playing...

Well, yesterday I decided to give it a try...my experience in resume was, 3 minutes played in 2 different matches (because in both occasions the match was in progress), and more than 25 minutes waiting to find each one of them. 4 deaths, 2 Kills.

Shame because I wanted to play something different for a day but I felt that I was wasting my time.

For me waiting for a match in any game like a shooter or something is not so bad if it works fast enough. For the record, I played Battlefield a lot but once I played Planetside 2 (in where you never have to wait to play because there is no matchmaking at all) I never went back (aside for its epic scale battles). I still play some other games with matchmaking but since there is nothing more aside from that waiting never feels like a waste of time. In Elite we have the whole Galaxy waiting for you aside from this mode.

For sure the lack of players in that mode is what make the waiting times so long, but also those few that were playing in my matches at the end leaved instead of waiting for the next one... If people do that is not fault of the game, but matchmaking overall can work a little bit better with those few that are playing.

At the end of the day I don't care that much for CQC in all honesty, but now I would like to see some more of it. Sure will give it a try once the hype from the new expansions goes down. (if it ever goes down...lol)

Most dont like CQC and it is and was a mistake to put an elite marker in game .
CQC should be removed from the game completly

Being an 84 means I understand the Elite experience is sacred...Firebird Forever!!!!

HOWEVER to each their own and those who love CQC on PC and XBOX please continue to play it how you enjoy it and convince others purchase :)

I'm talking about the production client, not the beta.

There really needs to be some kind of indication of how many players are in game or waiting to play. Even a lobby chat would suffice for this purpose. At the moment FDev are asking us to possibly waste our time for no good reason. They refuse to admit a problem here and simply say that it's ok at busy times, but then make no mention of when the busy times are and even if they did, it would still be a gamble. I don't appreciate having my time wasted, it's utterly disrespectful, so I don't even try anymore. This is a shame, because it's a fun little game.

Completely agree!

I am probably not unlike many players who struggle to find time in the week to clock a few hours in ... I certainly don't want to waste that time sitting twiddling my thumbs wondering if a game will appear. I want to play CQC, its simply not viable in the current state.

CQC could really benefit from the mechanic WOW implemented for battlegrounds. In that game you can queue for a BG/Arena and go about your normal business in game. When your queue pops you "teleport" to the BG, you have a short (30sec iirc) countdown to accept the teleport. You cannot accept the teleport if you are in combat.

If a similar system were implemented in Elite we could queue from our ships as we wander about, then continue with whatever we are doing and accept the CQC match as long as we are not in combat when the queue pops. the game already has a system to recognise when we are in combat that it uses to delay logout.

I suspect that the biggest reason the queues are long is reluctance on the part of players to hang about watching the matchmaking screen with nothing else to do except wait. If we had a facility to continue to play while waiting there would be more CQC players and shorter queues. There are not enough players for the existing system to be viable and i suspect the delays will only get worse.
