CQC CQC: Dead?

I play CQC maybe once or twice a month I don't like the fact my stats are in the main game. I hate deathmatch because everyone just goes in as a team and gangs up on loan players. Never played capture the flag so I play team deathmatch. It's fairly fun but 4-5 matches is my max but I never really have problems finding a game to join normally takes a minute or two.

When CQC was announced, I was one of the seemingly many voices on the forum asking "WHY?". I am still a bit sceptical about whether the development effort on FD's side was worth the result in terms of customer base enlargement and player satisfaction, but I do not know the actual effort, after all it may have been a by-product of some other development fork relevant to the core game.
So I accept that CQC, like PowerPlay, is there to stay. And like PowerPlay, I personally think CQC could be a great gameplay element were it developed to its full potential.

I suspect many commanders are still enjoying the novelty of planets surfaces. Once that wears off a little, I'm sure CQC will return in popularity. It's a nice addition to the game.

What would help even more would of course be releasing it as a standalone low-cost title. :)

Yeah I've definitely taken a break from CQC to enjoy the new stuff in Horizons.

I'll be back sooner or later for sure though. Count me in the "love it" crowd that's happy it exists.

Never played it...No idea why they made it in the first place.

I'm convinced CQC was made as a quick "HacknSlash" option for the consoles (xboxone for now), and the crying PvP crowd. Sadly many PvPers don't really appreciate a fair fight, so they quickly left CQC, and the decision to ignore bots means that those curious for a quick bash just can't get one.

CQC should be almost instant access. No matter what. Bring the bots in, and it might have a chance.

Needs bots, the wait really is too long now. Ultimately, the rank being shown is becoming pointless simply because of how long it takes to even find a game. CQC rank is probably the hardest to rank up at the moment just because of matchmaking wait time.

People left CQC cause the matchmaking is even worse than the main game.
If I want to play a dedicated PVP game I'll play something with actual servers.

The Devs should have taken a poll beforehand, asking the community if they wanted a CQC feature. I'm betting the vast majority would have voted "Nope, divert all assets to planetary landings." Frontier is losing ground against the developers of Star-citizen, due to mistakes like this. Has anybody seen the video on youtube of the landing on a planet with atmosphere in Star-citizen? Breath-taking.

I strongly doubt everyone would have wanted all assets going to planets, I think there are lots of different opinions on what they should develop. Since launch there have been lots of people who wanted a pvp arena mode, not to mention the fact that it made money for FD which helps them keep developing other things.

As to the Star Citizen video, yes it looks amazing. Star Citizen is very good at making amazing videos. It's worth looking at the note that it's a custom built landing area. While it was presented as a showcase for their procedural generation, we didn't get a great look at the PG landscape up close. I think it's important to distinguish between carefully shot promo videos designed to impress, and real playable games that we can see warts and all. Arena Commander looked stunning in the promos, wasn't nearly so amazing in motion. That said, it got (some) better and I hope Star Citizen is breath taking.
