(Someone more experienced than me should probably start a similar thread about Sidewinders in CQC.)

F63 Condor? Boring.
Imperial Fighter? Boring.
Show them your cannons. Make them eat your overcharged beam lasers. The Eagle can be a wonderful ship for CQC matches, making up in firepower what it lacks in maneuverability. Deliver 20 DPS into your enemy's face!

Eagle is OP and it's the best tool for killing noobs. They usually fly towards Eagles to be slaughtered.

Becoming a good Condor/Imp pilot requires way more skill, you have to be tactical in order to survive and beat your opponents. It's not boring.

I can't claim too many kills in my Eagle but I like beam lasers, that's a good enough reason for me

I love the Eagle in the main game, but can't quite click with it in CQC, so far. From the target's perspective, the thing does seem to bite hard; I tend to find myself 'chaffing prematurely' when an Eagle those beams hit
