I had 2 long CQC sessions yesterday, but each time I logged back in, I'd lost all my progress (from that day).

If you're looking for players, I'd recommend asking on the CQC discord channel. (There's a link to this in the sticky at the top of the CQC forum section). Also it's likely there are less players at the moment because of the stats/progress bug affecting everyone, I assume.

Now we have SLFs, why would anyone still play CQC? You can do it in game now. Try it, it's much more fun.

Main reason for me: I can play CQC versus everyone else without having to be in the same system, and without having to park a Keelback on the edge of the zone and hope no-one shoots it. I don't doubt it's also fun, but I'm currently over 20,000 LY from the nearest SLF shop, so it's not exactly convenient.

The adjusted rules for CQC - reduced speeds, reduced weapon ranges, weapon power intended for shooting fighters rather than warships, line-of-sight targeting only, respawn quite a bit faster than an SLF rebuild, even the powerups - are all potentially reasons to prefer it too.
