CQC CQC in main game!

Well I don't think they dare to put some key stuff there, as it would probably cause riots amongst the more peaceful "drivers" (quoted from the VIP passengers video 😜) But still exciting, very much!

"They also added fixed close-quarter combat (CQC) locations where players will be able to set up their own matches." http://www.tomshardware.com/news/elite-dangerous-guardians-gamescom-update,32560.html

I wonder how that will work. Will it be ad hoc matches with arbitrary rules and point scoring as adjudicated by the players in that instance, or will there be a local regulatory body overseeing the match and enforcing the standard CQC rules?

In any case, it all sounds pretty neat. I also hope that it adds extra bonuses within the main game.

About the landing pads... Stop thinking two dimensional, just dive down from above, don't forget to deploy your landing gear, rotate your ship and settle down... And pretty much the same procedure applies when starting, take off, retract the landing gear, lift your ship's nose and you're good to go... ;)

The most likely approach direction to an outpost pad is going to be not too far from level with it. No reason to go out of your way and approach from any particular direction, though. Just cruise straight in, stop over the center, yaw to alignment, down thrust to land.

The stupidest thing about outpost landing pads is when they flip you around to launch, which is an entirely unnecessary waste of time.

I honesty do not know. It seems to be over-ambitious to think that more people will play if they'll have to actually fly to the location... I'm really curious. And excited. And there's that mysterious tweet about having the CQC world permit ready by 28th... (And I only get back home on 31 😭) I hope I won't miss all the fun.

On today's morning stream Ed told us something about "CQC experience in main game". I think that they are going to add CQC stations to main game, from which we will be maybe able to play CQC. Isn't that great news?
More info on that will be said tomorrow.

Station that is probably coming to the main game:

You mean we might get to undertake fighter patrols at platforms or stations? Or as part of a capital ship? Or protecting a convoy? With a Wing of CMDRs or NPCs who we could give simple attack that/defend this instructions to?

And ending up with a range of mechanics then that could even spread to Community Goals and Powerplay etc?

That sounds good!

It does sound good, but Frontier hasn't promised or even implied anything of the sort.

The CQC stations are coming to the main game, and that's pretty much it. It means you can potentially host your own ad-hoc matches around those stations (in the main game), but I don't think there's any new mechanics being added.
