Cqc is a massive failure and waste of resources Imo

I truly think 90% of elite dangerous fans couldn't care less about cqc most if us wanted something to increase immersion not a fictional brawl mode. Very few people try to play it and way fewer ever finish 1 round. I tried it waited 3 hours in Que finally got in a game and game crashed. I went back to full game and fought other players with my ship on my terms. Still freezing or crashing every 10 min but it's was more fun than waiting in Que. I truly think frontier should have waited on cqc and gave us more full game stuff and bug fixes instead. Rant over an I know I'm going to hell for this.

I agree entirely. I tried it once or twice and it's not bad but not really what I signed up for and not what I would hope for from a title like Elite.

"What do Elite players hate most about modern gaming?"
"Dunno. Online multiplayer deathmatches?"
"Sounds good, we'll do that!"

the op makes a good point when he says that it is fun to fight on your own terms. and you get to use your own ships with all the upgrades and weapons that you desire to have on it, but at the same cqc puts everyone on practically equal terms there is no customization at all and I love that. The gimballed weapons don't track as well as they do in open play and for the most part everyone is in the same ship. I just like how it feels completely fair and simplified. I think that cqc is something either most people love or hate and while I understand why people hate it. I still think frontier should sort out the matchmaking so that people like me who enjoy it can play it. Anyway happy hunting commanders.

I don't blame them for the idea, they tried something and it's not really catching on as they had planned. If it would work well and be a meaningful addition to the galaxy, it would have paid off. As it is now, yes, it was a waste of resources. I would be upset if they would have made us pay for it. I know that the original backers of the game agree with you, I have never played it, never will, but I would say that you are not going to catch much crap for your opinion. It will be just the opposite.

This pretty well sums up my feelings on this too. I wonder if MS or other higher powers put pressure on FD to create a mode like this? To appeal to the Joe SixPack gamer and thus sell more units to a demographic that tends to avoid any games that involve much in the way of "thinking"?

The whole CQC thing, though visually a pretty impressive accomplishment reeks of your typical "Shovelware" mindset that dominates the console video game catalogs these days. I'm talking both on the XB1 and the PS4.

I guess we should be grateful that we got what we got considering how rare it is to get a game like ED actually out in the marketplace. Most "Thinking Mans" game concepts are killed in the boardrooms and rarely see the light of day. Meanwhile, 20 more FPS titles are greenlit at the same time.

Sad to think what all that time and energy could have produced if applied to the main game, or to getting Horizons out to the XB1 faster than the 6 months to a year it will probably be at the moment.

I think that if instead of getting into it through the menu, you instead went to a specific system within the galaxy. There you would dock at a station and sign up for CQC in the Starport Services. It would be in a few systems dotted about. There would also be npc combatants also to make up numbers if there aren't enough real players, or you're in solo.
It would then feel like part of the gameworld you are in and not just some gimmick tacked on, because that's what developers think is going to attract console gamers.

I think CQC would be an enjoyable change of pace every now and then if it actually worked properly and you could get a match. But I would really prefer to get to fight with my own ship. But I guess that's what Open mode is for and the KWS and Power Play.

It could be a massive marketing conspiracy to appeal to demographics, or maybe devs just think deathmatch is fun and enjoy playing them.

It was fun the few times I tried. If they fix it and manage to integrate it into the world in some decent way it could be a nice addition.

i think it would be a lot more fun if you could tweek the load outs more and most importantly it actually worked. Im wondering if the inability to get a match is a direct result of the small player base. If frontier gave us a curreny player count maby, then we would have a better understading of how long it would take to find a match. Or it could just be crap programming, but what do i know.

It was great when it worked, now in its current state, it is only ok, if it works.

But couldn't disagree more. It is a ton of fun, ever play space quiddice?

Plus it has many weapons which were not included in the game, or were removed from the original beta, such as the plasma repeater. Plus those mixed unit tactics :)

Really, give it another try after the next update, or if anyone is interested, we can stress test what really is the problem(already know really, peer to peer connections)

Also, this is classic "Fox and the grapes". Based on your previous posts, your getting tired of most of the PvE content, and are looking for a scapegoat to blame the lack of fun PvE is providing for you.

While I am also a heavy PvE player in all MMO's, the solo and anti-social crowd typically hate all forms of PvP in MMO's because it messes with their feeling of empowerment when they run into equally skilled players.

Give this game a break, and I am sure you will come back with slightly better opinion of the game, with a little less mud slinging at the devs and the community.

This is not true I have started playing open a lot more lately and I enjoy it the rush when I have full cargo and a cmdr in a python is following me in super cruise. The having actual friends to back me up when I bit off to much in combat. I am enjoying the game more and I am happy to report I just got my A8 power plant for my anaconda when bounty hunting in open. When I do get bored I try something new or travel to a new system.

Ahahahaha! Primarily an explorer here and you might consider me a non-PvP'er, but I just tried out CQC and find it to be ENORMOUS fun.

Hater's gonna hate :p

Wasn't a personal attack, nor was I really even aware you played in solo mode.

Did you read the Fox and the grapes section ?

And yeah, playing with other people is o e of the true joys of this game.

Most people in my combat wing, hear the same thing from me when they rag on trading. I encourage them to get into all aspects of the game,

Not just the combat portion. Here to talk about variety bringing about better experiences. I just like for people to realize the underlying reasons they are complaining about things they don't respect for which ever various reasons :)
