Cqc is a massive failure and waste of resources Imo

I didn't expect to enjoy CQC but I do, having a gamemode i can fly significantly more reckless in without worry is surprisingly enjoyable.

It is a waste of dev time? honestly? no, I don't think so, as someone who enjoys Elite a lot, but can get quite bored it is a nice way to still enjoy Elite with action when I want it, and for games like Elite I think it is a good choice.

Every programmer-hour wasted on this while there are still issues with core gameplay...

Its a zero sum game, resources/time spent on this "accessory" are not spent improving the core game.

This is only true if you assume that FD does not have multiple people working on different aspects of the game (Not True)
and that CQC wont have any benefits on further development. (also not true)

That'll be me then. I can't get my head around anyone not thinking this is brilliant. It's another option. It's a change of pace. It's a sudden wee burst of frivolous joy to break up the monotony. It's a chance to try your hand at some PvP without ending up a nervous wreck. It's a glorious, wonderful, funtabulous distraction and I loved it.

What the CMDR in the hoodie said is correct. And its not for Joe 6 Pack, its for the pewpew pals.
Don't worry XBone people of Earth, they will get the bugs out of it.

Ithink that if instead of getting into it through the menu, you instead went toa specific system within the galaxy. There you would dock at a station and signup for CQC in the Starport Services. It would be in a few systems dotted about. There would also be npc combatants also to make up numbers if there aren'tenough real players, or you're in solo.
It would then feel like part of the gameworld you are in and not just somegimmick tacked on, because that's what developers think is going to attractconsole gamers.

I guess itdepends if you want to have CQC open to all or reduce the number of people whoplay it.
As it is now, anyone can have a go at any time. Explorers, traders, solo players etc can alldip in and play. As a result, people who enjoy CQC will be able to get gameswhenever they please. Lobbies will be full and there will be minimal waitingtime between games. Restrict it toareas of the galaxy where you have to travel to and you’ll reduce the number ofplayers that participate.

Your choice isopen for all with instant gratification or empty wilderness with no players.

Been playing ED for a couple of weeks and tried CQC for the first time last night. I have to say I loved it. After spending several hours ploughing through space on various courier / smuggling missions where I'm trying my hardest not to get into a scrap, having 20 minutes where I could zip around blasting the crap out of things and having the crap blasted out of me, without any long term consequences, was just a really nice way to finish off. Looks great too. It definitely has a place in the game for me, and I don't think it takes anything away from the main game.

Including the man hours building those new space elevator, station and comms array orbital structures?

Or making the Condor a player-flyable ship?

Will those man hours count as wasted effort?

I truly think 90% of elite dangerous fans couldn't care less about cqc most if us wanted something to increase immersion not a fictional brawl mode. Very few people try to play it and way fewer ever finish 1 round. I tried it waited 3 hours in Que finally got in a game and game crashed. I went back to full game and fought other players with my ship on my terms. Still freezing or crashing every 10 min but it's was more fun than waiting in Que. I truly think frontier should have waited on cqc and gave us more full game stuff and bug fixes instead. Rant over an I know I'm going to hell for this.

Like to know where your 90% stat comes from.
From a neutral perspective the general opinion seems pretty positive as far as I can tell (bugs aside obviously).

With the limited number of matches I've managed to get into - I keep finding myself generally waiting and waiting and give up - I have enjoyed it. But I do wonder about its longevity!

But, you have to wonder (once again) somewhat like Powerplay, what could have been achieved in the core game with all that development time/affort :(

This is my feeling. Not bummed they built it, just bummed my galaxy map has to be reloaded 3-4 times every time I try to plot a course, and other small glitches like that and have for a couple updates while they expand something that doesn't really fit the style of the rest of the game. True, its a fun little time waster but this game eats enough of my day as it is. They're going to have to do more with it to get me interested, I won't even touch it if it doesn't benefit my main character. You wanna please the guys that are looking for something to pick up and put down with little immersion or the people who bought your kickstarter and sunk hundreds of hours in before it was even complete? I can tell you who I'd go out of my way to keep happy....
