CQC CQC is awful

So the matchmaking is boring while you wait then you go webrowse or wonder why you are doing this instead of bounty hunting where you make money in game.

For the new player you are outfitted with a        paperclip of a fighter with no durability whatsoever. Yeah great.

This is a complete waste of time. Even if you stick with it for your first dozen or so kills you can't customize your fighter without leveling up. So you are forced to grind in the worst POS doing so. Yeah this sucks. PVP is absolutely for me. Dogfighting in Falcon 4.0 BMS absolutely for me. Dogfighting players in ED absolutely for me. CQC isn't for anybody. This sucks and should be scrapped.

The default ship is the most balanced.

You didn't happen to get owned by people who happen to be better than you, did you?

In line with the current forum meta, "git gud."

Couldn't disagree more, I can't wait till we get some update on CQC and add lots of extra game types and different arenas to it.. Really good fun and has its own community of respected players..

Voice Chat never works and no chat in the Lobby. It sucks apart from the faster ships which are close to the new Engineered mods in 2.1

Actually there are quite a few people who enjoy CQC, including myself. I happen to enjoy a good fight when Im 65000 ly from home. There isnt a grind unless you make it a grind (I have enjoyed every game I have played but IM still level 30) and you dont need a better ship than what you are given- as 100th monkey said the first ship is one of the most balanced, and the other ships dont exactly have anaconda-like hull. Its something that requires practice, you cant just jump into a game and expect to be the best player.

However, I agree that matchmaking is pretty bad, I see level 2 or 1 people get stuck in games with people who are level 50, and it takes ages to get into a game because the playerbase dont care enough about it.

Still trying to figure out whee all these people hiding...
As the game goes, out of a couple millions ED players a couple hundred play CQC more than once a month. So CQC is a flop and should either get TLC (not much of it seen so far) or get scrapped (kind of happening naturally due to the low player population - CTF got scrapped no?)

CQC is amazing and alot of fun! It's exactly what I have been looking for in a space combat sim. :)
I'm waiting forever to get into a match and the buttons are laggy and nonresponsive sometimes.
Currently been waiting 30 min to find a match. There seems to be players online but it will not load me into a match. [hotas]

What is balanced about not being able to customize anything from LEVEL 1? Nothing is balanced about that? What is balanced about waiting 15 min for a match during peak UK times. I mean the game is a UK game right?    !

Aside from a few spikes and dips, I feel like the CQC playerbase has been pretty level for months. Not a huge number of players, but it's been holding steady (even with all the attention on the Beta).

I can find a match most evenings, and usually go up against at least one other top-shelf player.

I dont know what a numpty is but another issue I have is the fact that all of the powerups are undocumented. So new players. No idea that there are even powerups, when you do find that out about 100 deaths or so in it feels even cheaper because when you get a kill with a powerup its cheap because its 205% DMG. Yeah. I guess the other 50-60 threads about how this component of ED could be massively improved are all whiners too instead of players who simply don't like        implementation with a complete lack of documentation.

The reason there is such a long wait time is a contributing factor of the poor mathmaking. I mean seriously some players are substantially disadvantaged and some are substantially advantaged and not for anything more than knowledge of the game or the experience of having died many more times. Yeah Of course this sucks.

Please do write off all the comments as... Dude is a loser... Dude has no skill. Send me your "Get Skil" biz card So I can do a line on it later.

Cheers mate.

Yeah, some stuff is missing like a lobby chat, some more maps or modes (something like king of the hill for example?), but I also enjoy CQC ... It's not bad, just feels a bit "light". Also, some changes to the progress would be neat, like points per rank to chose which components or ships you want to unlock. If there would be some alterations I would like to play it more often then an hour or two per week.

But please stop this "CQC sucks" s#!% ... that's not kinda constructive but only a sign of no capebility to find idears about making something better then just waste and leave it to find something different ... just for flaming it ^^

That is not the point (that some ppl can find a match sometimes (no need to argue - just look how many ppl complaining about not being able to find a match))..
Also there is no reason to bring up beta - I accumulated ~48 hours of pure wait time for DM there with not a single match. Nobody plays CQC there..
,
The point is that a game designed for thousands of simultaneous online players (I am talking about CQC, watch Frontier's AWS presentation if you do not believe me), gets only a dozen players on a good day sometimes.
All due to the bad game design. Pretty obvious if you think about it (not enough incentive to play. Kind of boring maps, ice field is almost passable but does not even stands to the Frontier hype - no way to escape death there by running away from even slightly capable opponent. Silly power-ups - making the game even more primitive: just time the weapons PU and you will likely to win. ETC. Too many flaws to write..)
And it was/is easy to fix - Just think for a moment if CQC DM winner would get 1M credits instead of whatever change he gets now.. Or if power-ups get eliminated. Or "upgrade with rank" ladder gets reversed.. All these changes cost next to zero in development costs...

Sorry but it is s#!%. And this forum is littered with "constructive ideas" that plainly ignored by Frontier. As I recall only one idea "spin off stand-alone version of CQC" got implemented. And it was not even forum's favorite...

Rank 2 gets you the Sidewinder, which in its default configuration (with four pips to systems and good use of the SCB) takes so long to kill most people will get bored and go elsewhere. In the interests of preventing no-score draws, I think it's good that beginners are shown the Condor first.

It depends what approach you like to take to main game combat, I think. If you like the light fighters there, the Condor (and Imp Fighter) will probably be great fun. If you like cruising around in a super-shield-tank Corvette swatting flies and using the huge hardpoints on similarly-tough ships, well, even the Sidewinder isn't a good fit for that and it's just not going to be the game for you.

I love CQC.

I expect some more maps :
  • Near a star
  • Over some planets with base in the ground
  • In the middle of a big space shipyard with capital ships in it.

I also expect a racing mod :
  • with checkpoint rings to pass through
  • with modified engines thanks to engineers (800m/s)
  • with speed bonus

So that combat players and less oriented combat players would love CQC/Arena.
