More people the merrier! I don't play it often because it's hard finding a match (playing from Australia).

FDev, are you lot INSANE?! Now is NOT the time to do a freebie promotion on CQC. You have far too many issues to fix with the damn thing first! I'm highly concerned and worried you just committed PR suicide for Arena. :\ Steam recent reviews are already looking bad.

Have you actually read them? Apparently its too much effort to take a few minutes to register the game..[wacko]

My daughter uses Steam....

She looks at the number of hours played before giving one iota of creedence to any review.

I go by review content, generally. Steam reviews tend to be highly subjective, and that over-subjectivity makes reviews (positive or negative) easy to ignore. If your review includes statement like "I don't like the fact that I have to use the "B" button to make Mario jump", then I'm going to ignore your review and move on.

I hated the controls and POV for Deadspace, and so I got a refund with less than an hour in game. However, realizing that my dislike of those features was highly subjective, I didn't feel the need to go on Steam and flame the entire game for that fact.

It is free (apparently permanently) on Steam.

And you reading it wrong - it is not a "promotion". The cost of managing "support calls" and refunds probably exceeded revenue generated. So Frontier is "dumping it"...

They are not dumping it. Those who acquire it over the weekend get it free and keep it. After the weekend the promotion is over and it's on sale again.

Because it's free, it's worth five minutes only to see if it's any good. And that five minutes is used up trying to log in and get the damn thing to work.

And indeed there was another way: the Steam account API could have been used. Other games have it, it's just a "login with Steam" button.

Now the reviews are "mostly negative". Such a sad waste of a great opportunity. Why can't FD do anything right?

Yeah I saw that. They dropped the ball on that one. Frankly I enjoy CQC whenever I can actually find a match (apparently not now as I'm trying to find one while I'm typing this) but the same is true of the base game. I do wish hotas support was stated more clearly in the steam... Ooh, match loading. Gotta go!

Nope, not a case of "FDEV can't do anything right". Just proof that some people are utterly stupid and shouldn't be allowed to use computers, chances are high that they'll hurt themselves or others at some point, either by cutting a power cord with scissors or by spreading malware. If someone isn't able to click his left mouse button a few times he isn't in the position to write a review about a (free) game.

And also not in a position to buy the main game, but who cares about that, eh?
