CQC launch thresholds.

Today I tried to play CQC, and surprisingly there were three others players online also wanting to play, we were all waiting for Deathmatch to launch. The four of us waited and waited and waited the game didn't launch and everyone left. Can the launch thresholds for CQC death matches be lowered to 2 players and 4 for the other two modes? At least that way some of might actually get a chance to play it?

Also, huge shot in the dark, how about a menu were you can see how many players are in a lobby waiting to play CQC? Just a thought.

everything is normal, it's just one of the many bugs, bugs introduced with odyssey release in may 2021, that are still not fixed. and that will probably never.

CQC is P2P, it only show you the players you match with.

Ideally just queue for DM from the main game. Play the main game as usual and when someone else starts to queue in DM you will get notified and be able to join that person and play a match together. That's assuming no other bugs prevent you from starting such match.

Sadly, the matchmaking errors within CQC are in a sorry state with lots of intermittent connection errors and broken lobbies (although it is better than it was).

We call what you have experienced a broken lobby. If you end up in this situation, there are a few things you can try:
  • All players exit to main menu and come back in (or try rejoining from main game).
  • Invite one or more friends to a Squad (This often seems to reset the lobby) - Best option if you have a friend playing
  • Occasionally an additional player joining will fix the lobby
  • Restarting the game is sometimes the only way.
Although connection errors when re-entering the lobby after a match are common, I often find going straight into the main game and rejoining via the Comms panel often get's me back in. It can be frustrating sometimes though.

Hope this helps.

Maybe adding NPC bots would be good to fill in the missing players, I'm surprised you got four people waiting normally it's one 😉

If bots were to be introduced it should be as a mode in the training section. The fact that CQC is pure PVP is one of the main things that makes it unique and special imo.

While the CQC population does fluctuate, the experience is notably better the more people that play.

Hey :) The DM can actually start with as few as 2 players, what you encountered is sadly one of the lasting bugs plaguing CQC where lobby gets broken after a match, and doesnt start the game even with sufficent amount of players present. What usually fixes it is if everyone in there restarts CQC from main game's menu and reques. And yea it could use many QoL improvements, sadly it just isnt in any way Frontier's focus, which is imo quite sad, it is really fun gamemode if you get the right squad. Some simple Powerups rebalancing, bugfixes and QoL would do wonders to it.
