CQC CQC majorly broken in 2.1?

There are a few bugs in CQC at the moment that unfortunately make it unplayable for me right now.

For starters, whenever a new match begins my camera gets stuck on the in level "waiting for players to join" screen. Is anyone else experiencing this (Video below)? My ship will still respond to control input, so I can throttle up and wait for it to fly out of bounds and explode. Only once I respawn though, am I then actually placed within my ship [blah].

Next, the heat beam is just broken. I cannot imagine that the change to the heat beam DPS was intentional. Heat Beam + WEP power up = 3 hit kills. I felt dirty using it. Even the standard heat beam does ridiculous amounts of damage.

During the beta, I tried on more than a few occasions to get into CQC, but was never able to get a match. I suspect that this was probably the case for most people, and as such we are now essentially the CQC beta testers for 2.1. That said, if you see something fishy, please file a bug report: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=105. Hopefully we can get things sorted by the next patch. As things are now, I can't play CQC seriously :(

Artysu also got stuck at match start yesterday. I (in match with him) did not experience this.

I play on monitor. Both of you use Oculus, right? Any monitor player out there that got stuck?

I have the same bug, but i don't know, is it on client side or server side, but i see that you have the same trouble here, Curtis what runtime you run 1.3 or 1.4? Also, welcome to the CQC/Arena tester club haha!

Yes. I sat looking a load screen for 5 mins this afternoon, after which I was awarded points for "Survival".

Only happened the once.

Yeah the beams aren't totally OP ;-) Kappa Kappa Kappa

I really have no idea why they wanted beams to work like glorified burst lasers... (then make them ludicrously powerful) why reinvent the wheel? I guess the one less heat sink needed some kind of balancing but the Eagle is now... super powerful, not like it was weak before, its so strong I couldn't play for long without feeling guilty.

I haven't had any loading in bugs since 2.1, except I see a very very ugly version of my cockpit before the 5 second countdown starts...

Re getting stuck in the loading screen, before 2.1, I have a feeling it is specific players you are in a match with, and I have a ling doubt they may be using some kind of lag bomb hack. I won't name names because its quite possibly innocent. But yes. I've noticed one player in particular. Something to keep an eye on maybe?

I am on 1.4. I suspect that it may be VR specific. I'll do some more testing.

Also, you can no longer cancel out of collision spin with FA toggle. I am sure that that was technically a bug 'fix', but I hate that stupid collision spin. lol

Oh dear :O

Well, main trouble is that anoying new match starting bug (looks like VR specific... DK2, 1.4 all were fine until the new patch), beams are also too insane, but what we can do...

Using a Vive, same problem with the initial spawn outside my ship. Switching to normal monitor mode avoids the issue but isn't nearly as fun. Hope it is fixed soon.

Thanks for this. I was wondering if it was Rift specific, but it sounds like it is a general VR bug. Hope they fix it soon. It's funny that I actually prefer not to play CQC (or to play in VR and suffer through this annoying bug), rather than going back to playing on my monitor now. Interesting.

+1 on the heat beams thing. It seems to be the closest thing to an instant kill weapon - I mean, even I can shoot straight with it! :p When on the receiving end of them, I really start to panic - and the only way to survive is to run fast. All in all, I think it needs a rebalancing pass.

As for getting into the game from loading, one thing I noticed in 2.1 (not so much in previous versions) that the initial cockpit textures look really low-res and flat on the "Waiting for other players" caption once getting into the arena. It's a little off-putting.

Also, a lot of players I find sitting around in corners and doing nothing during the game. Is this part of the lag issue others are reporting?

On the weapons topic, there are also reports in the main game of certain NPCs having weapons that eat through shields in seconds. A lot of those reports are being dismissed as inexperience with PIP management in the face of the new, deadlier AI, but I am beginning to wonder if there is a universal DPS bug with heat transfer weapons in particular. Engineer's weapon special effects exist that can add heat transfer modifications to different weapon's classes now, so perhaps those hyper deadly NPCs are the ones with (broken?) heat transfer mods. Just a theory, but if there is anyone flying a ship in the main game with a heat transfer weapon's special effect, I would be interested in your thoughts. Is it OP? Does it feel bugged?
 
its not specific to oculus 1.4 cos im using deepoon e2 / steamvr / oculus 0.8 via the deepoon e2 assistant 1.4 and in the latest elite i get this bug, first spawn is with no ship in cqc. all i can do is wait for my invisible ship to fly out of bounds if it doesnt get stuck on anything!
