Anyone else think it would be a cool idea to turn CQC into a PVP arena with our personal ships? Whereas your rebuy goes to the victor?

This, from within game, may improve chances of its survival. People here saying it's dead on console too - since rolling a new commander on PC have not been able to get into a match. And if it were split into sections, say VIPER/COBRA/DB, EAGLE/ADDER/ASP SCOUT, VULTURE/DBX/PYTHON, ALL SHIPS, I'd give it a go...
 
One of the big strengths of CQC at the moment is you can get into it with zero prep and straight away be flying a strong ship (the rank 1 Condor is a very strong build) - and you get access to alternative loadouts (a few of which are better...) by fighting in PvP.

Compare this with the current state of main-game PvP where you have to grind for weeks (or do bits as and when at a more relaxed pace for months or years) to get a competitive ship, and then - if you lose fights - have to do even more to make back the rebuys...

It'd be nice to have a wider ship selection - and some bigger ships either for their own modes or for a mixed free-for-all - in CQC, but I think the relatively equalised loadouts are much more fun than having everyone bring whatever engineered monstrosity they have. (Not least because I'm pretty sure a lot of matches would end as 0:0 draws with the current state of main game ship defenses!)
 
Yes, I agree with Ian doncaster that engineered ships would not be very fun. But having for example viper, cobra and eagle in its own game mode with standarized loadout would be awesome! :D
