CQC CQC revisted :-(

I tried CQC when it first launched and gave up as 'requiring more work'.

Now, irritated by the helpless ranking I'm given in the main game, I tried again. 10 quick games, and my conclusion is it not worth it. Server matchmaking errors, crashes at end of combat (defeat then black screen) and unengaging gameplay because of poor team matching.

I'll get past 'mostly helpless' being displayed in the main game and then ignore it. IMHO it shouldn't even feature in the main game screens because it's and insult to an otherwise well crafted game.

You probably picked the worst day to try it. I've never had matchmaking errors or crashes, it's probably the servers being overloaded by all the new players

New players? They'd be disappointed then. I would have thought the poor balancing of games was due to either a small pool of players or poor matchmaking algorithms.

It's my experience that the team matchmaker is terrible; often times, the best player on the losing side quits and the match maker puts that pilot on the team that is destroying everyone. Deathmatch isn't any less rough; I get rank 1 pilots matched with me all the time (I'm not that good, but even an average player can grind through Prestige).

Fortunately, I enjoy the game, and grinding was a joy. I didn't really start figuring the game out until I had a ton of matches with Rhetoric and just the few matches with Alexander the Grape have been instructional.

I hope you stick with it, OP; the first 10 or so ranks can be rough, but there's more to it than you glean from the first 20 or so matches.

Don't know why CQC seems to be bullied a lot.

Not had server crashes or issues. It takes longer for a game to appear at the moment but I've still been having a lot of fun. I don't give a flying ship what my rank says. I think I'm about 8 or something. It's a good place to practice dogfighting and I love the fast pace. Love the look of the maps.

I also don't give a flying ship who I'm ranked against. The harsh reality of life is that we come up against people much better than us. Everyone I meet offline is better than me except that guy called Dilbert C Pickles who really was the worst at everything.

If I'm pitched against better players or even elite players on CQC then I learn to adapt and survive.
