CQC CQC upgrade for the EDWTRB.com website.

Hi All CQC'ers,

I'm looking to work on the next stage of the https://www.edwtrb.com website. What I was thinking of adding was a way to organise CQC teams (similar to the looking for wing functions I have at the moment) and then once teams were set up, It could be used to schedule matches between teams and have a CQC team league.

As you can imagine, it would take a bit of time to code up, so I'm gauging the interest to see it it's worth putting the time in?

So are you up for this idea and do you have anything to add which could help organisation of a league?

AFAIK even if the game you select your squads (teams) you will still be randomly assigned to one of the teams (some kind of built in-game team balancing, which usually doesn't work and makes games unbalanced anyway).

So any kind of league is not gonna work. CQC is broken in this department. Matchmaking is a mess.

CQC lost its potential as e-sport because of these issues.

AFAIK even if the game you select your squads (teams) you will still be randomly assigned to one of the teams (some kind of built in-game team balancing, which usually doesn't work and makes games unbalanced anyway).

It depends on the size of the squad and the number of other players. If you have a squad of 4 and 2 random players, it'll break up the squad to get 3:3 teams. If you have a squad of 4 and 4 random players, it's murdering time... (usually of the squad, because they'll be beginners following the in-game tips and the 4 random players will be veterans, but it could happen the other way)

I've found the built-in balancing to generally be pretty good if given reasonable inputs (3 vets + 5 beginners is generally impossible to balance, for example, but is a common case)


The problem is reliably getting two squads of 4 - after "online at the same time" has been addressed - into the same TDM lobby without breaking something or ending up with one of them sat with two people who were speculatively queuing TDM and the other ending up staring at the queue screen. (You would generally be best trying to schedule the matches at a time no other players are about ... which is likely to be tricky to combine with "when the 8 team members can show up")

I'd like to see more on this - but I think unfortunately it needs Frontier to add a way to set up a specific squad vs squad match somehow.

I was working on the assumption that a team would consist of 4 players each and that each team would keep all four members when entering a match. We had quite a lot of succsess with the hutton Truckers CQC night which made me think it was possible you see.

I dont know if this would be possible, but having a overview if a TDM/DM/CTF lobby is up would be very beneficial. Make us have to update the status of said lobby every 30 (+/- ?) minutes. If you don't update the status, the lobbies become inactive. But I guess this depends on players actively updating the site if they have a lobby up. We could encourage people to update the status on the discord channel.
