CQC with the devs - Thursday 08th 7PM BST on PC & awesome new prize system

Come on then... let's play some CQC with the devs this week. Once on Tuesday on Xbox One, and then again on Thursday with that there PC crowd (love you all equally).
NEW PRIZE GIVEAWAY SYSTEM!
Come along to play against the devs and be in for the chance to win some prizes. The prizes will be going to the chat as well as to those who take part in the matches!
Here's how it's going to work... We start off with a small prize, but just as with the Community Goals, the more you defeat our developer in combat, the prize will just get better and better. So, depending on how much you kill our selected pilot, will depend on how good the prize that is given away at the end will be!
It'll stack, too. So we'll keep adding those prizes to the list as we go.
See you there?

Wish I could join! Not your fault but my odd work hours make connecting these with these events almost impossible. Good luck Devs! We got too many players with skills that will send you away crying! Just kidding. I hope everyone who has a chance enjoys the fun!

Let's see if instancing (and my ISP) is up to it. Even if it's just as cannon fodder, this sounds like it could be fun.

There's instancing issues in CQC mode?

Let's say the instancing issues in CQC are different from those in the main game. I didn't see rubberbanding in the one match I participated in so far, but did see the player disconnect (from at least one other player) and experienced it once myself (i.e. server connection lost). At other times, I just sat there looking at the startup screen until I lost interest.

Apart from that, the question more or less irregular arises on the forums. Might work out differently (better?) on XBone.

Are you adding lobbies or rooms to CQC?

Or do what Counter Strike does and show which games have spaces. For example 5/8 CQC Team death match...

So we can make leagues and when you do things like this it makes it easier...

As i dont want to queue up for 45 mins if i am going to do this and actually end up not playing.

I appreciate FD trying to generate interest for CQC, but there are some serious underlying problems with it, hopefully CQC is eventually expanded upon.

Have fun with the event though.

Some interesting thoughts as usual. I particularly like the Capitol ship combat idea which is where we first saw these fighters after all. I also like the Piracy scenario as I came to cqc with the aim of gitting gud in a fighter for use during cargo reallocation.

I'm sure frontier appreciate the feedback. My personal take is that the game is alright, it's fast and can be furious with dog fights and narrow escapes.

These are small expendable fighters though and I think they are designed for high speed attacking runs followed by high gee turns and escape. Just last week I came third in a match with no kills one death but seven assists. My tactic is simply straffe and run, repeat. My single death came in the last minute after being lowered to 24% hull for some time. It was v exciting!

So upping their armour and abilities would detract from their main strength which I see is speed and manouvre ability

That being said I do agree the reward structure is appalling and in game credits / decals should be a given. I'd also like to see CQC feature on Galnet to make good players famous because when we finally get multi crew in Capitol ships who would you rather hire, some crop dusting yahoo or the best fighter pilot in the galaxy?

Manufacturers / faction teams should also feature. Those chief execs from Falcon deLacy would WANT their team to cream the Saud Kruger lot and would pay top ranking pilots to join their teams.

All manner of things could be done to that game really.

Finally looked at the time zone difference.. +5:00 from me to BST, meaning I'll never get to participate in these sorts of events. I'm at work until at least 22:00 BST, and my usual play time 23:00-03:00 BST.
So good luck to those who can participate, and maybe someday we'll get some love for the other side of the pond.

Indigo, we usually run CQCT from 22:00 every tuesday here in the uk (meaning 21:00 "server time" or "in game time"). hopefully you might be able to join for one of our other weeks. it usually goes on for a couple of hours.

It would be nice, but I work every Monday-Friday from 13:00-22:00 your time, so the only time I might have a chance to join in is when there's a holiday on a Tuesday that I'm off, or during a vacation.

Just remember the Devs will have likely done a full days work... perhaps gabbed some dinner and are then back "working" doing this event.... they can't really stay up all hours playing with us if they want to actually code straight the next day!
