As a noob to exploring and certainly exploring with other people, I was wondering what game mode players would be using... Open, Private Group or Solo...
If its going to be in a private group - what is the group name so that I can request membership... If its in Open, then I'm probably out as I've had enough of being hit by less social types in ED in Open Mode.
Also, what websites / Tools / Apps will make my life at lot easier to tag along with the expedition?
Thanks for the help!

Hi! all the details can be found here https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=241638

The private group is atomicb0mb639

This will be my first expedition with a group so could someone please explain how it works? Do we travel on our own and show up at each waypoint at a particular time or do we travel together? Put another way, is this a strict itinerary or are we able to veer off and visit other places as long as we make it on time at the next waypoint?

Thank you

All up to you. You don't even have to show up at each waypoint at the scheduled time, if it's not convenient for you - e.g. due to family commitments I'll be flying ahead after WP8, visiting WP9 solo, and rejoining people at WP10. - they're places for mass meetups and pretty sights but nothing is compulsory. Travelling together is more fun, I think, but easier done with a few friends than trying to coordinate a bigger group. (But do try to get as many expedition members as possible on your friends list, because the sight of tens of green markers spread out between two waypoints on your map as the fleet moves and different ships take different routes at different speeds is amazing in its own right)

Ah! Thank you for the explanation. This would work just great because there are some side trips I'd like to make as well since I haven't been in the neighbourhood before.

So it's around 500ly a day, more-or-less?

Should be do-able for me, I can get in a couple of hours each night, about 5 on a Friday, and maybe 5-10 over each weekend...

Thanks for the itinerary, I'm really looking forward to it.

CMDRs in the private group for this trip, feel free to friend me in-game, one of the big deals for me (which I've not had chance to do yet) is meeting a fellow CMDR Out There. (Besides I am spectacularly awful at landing in the right places on planets/moons etc, and could use the help of a wing to join up with others :D )

Fly safe!

Looks like the pace for this trip is nice and relaxed. I'll be able to get a lot of scanning in! :D
Looking forward to meeting everyone :)

OP could use an update... ;)

Betelgeuse coordinates are purportedly 69.68, 72.91 on planet 2.

No worries, the first CNE waypoints are not too far away from each other. And now, from 2.1 on, there's no need for exhaustive trilateration, the journey is much faster. I missed yesterday, too, because of the Euro2016 (soccer, Germany won :) ) - I'll keep up tonight to Betelgeuse, you should be able to reach it from anywhere within the bubble in an hour.

Can the OP for this thread and the official main one update their OP's?

I've been looking forwards to this for some time, am actually on it and this is the first time ever I've seen this page.

Meanwhile landing in the wrong area then trying to take off from Betelgeuse 2 reminded me nice and early that when I tried out that shield booster it was my heatsinks I swapped it for.... Quick skip and a hop back to civilisation for me first.

Heres something from discord:

As many of you are aware Barnards Loop is practically surrounded by permit locked systems, that can make it hard to reach the third waypoint. To assist in getting there, here is a few possible routes:

Betelgeuse -> HIP 22785 -> Trapezium Sector DQ-X c1-9

Betelgeuse -> OOCHORRS SQ-C C29-1 -> COL 69 Sector GX-T D3-5 -> Orion Dark Region CL-Y D15 -> Trapezium Sector DQ-X c1-9

It is with regret, that after a day of hard work and plotting, it appears the 'wall' around the cone nebula is pretty solid, meaning our stay at the cone nebula will have to be cancelled. We will use the time to venture towards the Thors Helmet and gather extra data.
